So fun!
Ordered 2 packages of 50 each for Christmas. My 13 year old loved opening them, and we all loved seeing what was coming out. They were pretty easy to open, which was good for our kids. Definitely not Epcot quality, but still fun. Do outside if you can, or at least crack a window and have a fan going, as they do smell strongly of formaldehyde. Out of the 100 we received, 1 didn’t have a pearl. In both bags, 13/50 oysters had a dark pearl in them. Will order again for sure!

You get what you paid for
First thing I noticed was the smell. When the package arrived it had a formaldehyde odor to it. It may have been just the smell of the oysters but it was very very bad. When I opened the package there was a Ziploc bag with the oysters individually wrapped inside. Even through all that we could smell how bad they were. We found many with mold on them and they were all very hard. Next, we placed the oysters in salt water for over an hour. This helped with the odor and did help soften them up a bit. I recommend this as an outdoor activity. We did get a pearl in every oyster but as someone else stated; they were placed in the oyster. The pearls are pretty but, we also noticed the "pearl" coating is flaking off some and some have very light patches of color. Almost all have white spots of no color.Pros:Pearl in every oysterFast shipping received two weeks before expected.Cons:OdorHard to openMold

Deceiving oysters and pearls
These pearls aren't grown in the shell. They are placed in the oyster! All shells are opened. I'm so disappointed in these AKOYAS. They are tiny and look just like the freshwater party pearls.

Great fun and mystery to be had by all.
The product was on time and my wife and I loved the surprise that each one brang when we opened them. When ordering I thought I was only going to get 4 colors but we ended up getting six colors. It was a great 30th Anniversary present for her and we are going to make a multi colored necklace out of them.

Pre drilled holes?
I got quite a few of these for a party. They smelled heavily of chemical preservatives. The inside meat of the oyster was shriveled and often separated from the shell. You could tell that they had pearls placed into them, especially when one came out with a fully drilled hole through the center. Most if not all the pearls had visible lines going across half the pearl, making them look manufactured instead of cultured. I am extremely disappointed in these, and will be taking them in to have them looked at and figure out what they are.

Pleasantly surprised
I have always wanted to open an oyster and find a pearl and when I saw this item I became very excited. Had to order it and have not regretted it. Have only opened about half of them but has several of each of the colors and I've made one necklace so far and plan on making other jewelry and gifts for people. These are absolutely stunning and I am very pleased with this purchase. Thought it would have a very fishy smell when I opened the first packet but it absolutely did not have a strong odor. Very small odor but very tolerable. Thanks again for this great item.

We used them for my son's book report presentation for "The Pearl". The pearls are beautiful.
We used them for his book presentation on "The Pearl" with his class. They loved them. We soaked them the night before. The only negative thing is the chemical smell of the oysters not the pearls. Burned my eyes.
