I do think an 11 year old would figure this out easily, but you have the option to place this anywhere on the door. Some family members put there’s down low which I found impractical because you always have to lean over and any child could reach. In my house, we placed them all 3/4 of the way up the door. That being said, if you don’t have a particularly tall 11 year old and other adults are not short, you might get away with placing it higher.

this security door lock can not use for outward opening doors. Because you lock it from inside the room,keeping somebody come from outside.
