Q: Would this be ok for fossil hunting?

I used this hammer for exactly this purpose and it's done well. Mind you I don't have anything to compare it to.

Q: could you use this for facing stone?

I used to use a bolster chisel to take 1/4" off all the edges of the stone to make it square for laying, and leave the face.

Q: Would you guys in the know.. please advise if you would call this a masonry hamer please? I'm going to attempt to break up a concrete mantle piece🙈

It’s a brick hammer not concrete hammer, you could use it but it wouldn’t be the right tool for breaking concrete
