Use all the time in washing machine and dishwasher. Just leave inside the appliances.Hard to know if they work, but that along with regular machine cleaning, keeps my appliances tip top.

Finally, My Appliances Have a Magnetic Personality
Well, who knew the solution to limescale wasn’t elbow grease, but three magnetic balls that look like they belong in a sci-fi movie? I’m not saying these balls are magical, but since tossing them in, my dishwasher hums with joy, my washing machine seems to sparkle, and my toilet now flushes with the confidence of a royal decree.Their powerful magnetic field claims to battle limescale, and honestly, who am I to argue with science? I haven’t exactly set up a laboratory to measure results, but I feel like my appliances are impressed.In short, these little orbs have turned me into a believer—or at least someone who’s having a good laugh every time I explain why there are magnetic balls in my loo. Works!!
I had the Magnoball before but it fell apart after a couple of months, I wasn’t impressed! Decided to try this, and followed the instructions of no longer using fabric softener. I was skeptical that our clothes would come out dry as a bone, however I have been pleasantly surprised at how well this works. All our clothes look cleaner, and far softer than when I used fabric softener!!! I’m unsure of the science behind it as it’s explained in French, but this really works!!! Another thing, we used to have cat hairs (we have cats) stuck all over our clothes, but since using this and dropping fabric softener from our routine our clothes are coming out lovely and clean and soft with no hair on!!!! Saves money in the long run from not having to buy fabric softener as well. Very pleased I took the gamble now after my bad experience with the Magnoball. That didn’t work half as good as these, I highly recommend!!!!

Do nothing!
Seem to have absolutely zero effect. They're not collecting any limescale so I can't imagine they are doing anything to prevent it building up inside the machine!

Sounds like you left your car key in drum..... Noisy as hell.
Yeah well, it may work as a magnet but put this in the drum at night and you will get no sleep. The noise is awful even with a full load. It slams into the metal drum, glass door for the full cycle. Not good.
