Fantastic value Monopod
I first saw the Amazon Basics 170 cm (67 Inch) Monopod, Black and was tempted to buy it as it looked ideal for what I wanted and very reasonably priced. I didn't get round to purchasing it at the time but later saw it on offer for less than £15 so purchased it.It's certainly as good as I had expected and it's definitely great value. I only wanted to use it with an action camera for stability and it's perfect for the job, I especially like the quick release poles which allows you to quicky adjust the length and each pole firmly locks in place. This is much better than the mechanism on other cheap monopods/tripods where you have to twist the pole to lock it in place or have a round locking clip you have to twist. When extended, the pole is quite sturdy, the thinnest pole at the bottom is not quite as solid as the thicker ones above which is to be expected but it's still sturdy enough, unless you wanted to use it for pole vaulting or something. I do have a DSLR and I'm sure it would be fine mounted on this monopod It has a comfy foam grip which I noted other reviews suggested it wouldn't last long but it should last a long time if treated well. The pole comes with it's own bag which will help keep it safe and stop it getting scratched when not in use.The only thing I don't like about it is the fact it says 'Amazon Basics' down the side... I'm not a snob or anything and there's certainly nothing wrong with Amazon basics products but I'd rather it not be so prominent down the side of the pole. I haven't tried yet but I suspect some nail varnish remover would remove the branding and make it appear a more premium product. Anyway, this is trivial in any case but is the only negative in my opinion.Overall, it's a very good item and great value for the money, especially when it's on sale. For anyone using a monopod for the first time like myself, it's ideal.

Better than expected
Bought to test my new Speedi Gimbal.I Chose this one as it only has three extensions, therefore less faff.It appears to be pretty sturdy and well made, with everything being compromise in some aspect, this monopod is sturdier rather than lightweight (flimsy). There are others that are shorter and lighter but have more extensions, or they have screw locks. I'm 6 foot 1 , the fully extended height is fine for me without needing to stoop. The cam locks work really well. The rubber foot screws up and down to expose or cover the spike, simple. It comes with a fabric cover. This may be slightly longer when closed and a few gramms heavier than others but with fewer moving parts and good construction it should last really well.

Light weight and wonderful
Cheap it is yes but well made too, so far this is amazing, light weight and easy to set to the right height, the sections slide with ease, the section locks are strong and easy to use

Great Value, you needn’t buy anything else.
I purchased this monopod as a gift for a friend who has recent bought a Tamron 150-600mm for his Canon 500D. Due to a muscle condition he struggles to handle his camera so a monopod was a must, however he couldn’t afford an expensive one and wouldn’t get the use out of it to warrant the expense if he could afford it.So we w red to find a good value option that would be sturdy and offer support.Upon looking I came across the Amazon Basics model and it visually ticked the boxes. Solid construction, decent looking locks which would be easy to operate and a big grip. It was also really cheap.Upon arrival I had a big issue, I wasn’t sure I wanted to give it to my friend. The build quality of this monopod is superb and easily matches more more expensive Manfrotto which I have used for years. The top cap the covered the thread isn’t flimsy which is great as they tend to break easily on monopods I find. The padding on the grip is squishy and offers support but is the one area of concern as I can see that degrading over time but can be easily replaced with another grip so not a big deal. The poles are solid and the twist locks are excellent easily holding a 150-600mm which I tested with my Sigma Sport which weighs around 3kg.The foot is well cushioned with rubber which allows for good positioning and manoeuvrability. It is also ridiculously light easily held in the hand. The final thing I like is the bag. Normally tripods and monopods come is really awful storage bags which are quickly put to one side as they get in the way in your camera bag. However this time I recommended my friend actually keep theirs in this one as it’s really small, form fitting with a really good big zipper. Reminds me of the Peak Design tripod style of bag with how compact it is. It will offer a big of protection. The only thing that I have changed with the monopod is wrapping the outer pole in some camo self wages I’ve tape that is easily applied and removed with no residue. All in all I would recommend this product to any level of photographer and will be getting one at some point as a spare. 5***** all the way.
