I first tried a cheaper Kwikset model (550), which just felt thin and "wimpy" and had about a 40% success rate engaging the lock, even though everything was lined up, chiseled out, etc. I'd take the dog for a walk and return home to see/hear the lock still grinding away, trying to fully engage, while flashing bright red, as if to beckon a would-be criminal: "Hey! This door is unlocked!"Enter the Kwikset 570.INSTALLATION: It was super-easy to pop it in and rekey.PERFORMANCE: Worked perfectly right out of the box. You can hear the powerful motor secure the deadbolt in place, followed by a double beep and amber light to confirm you are good to go.AESTHETIC: The unit looks very high-end and the lighted keypad feels very firm and durable. Note that it is not exactly "quiet." The motor is powerful so it's gonna make some noise when it's engaging the lock. You can disable the beeps, but I prefer them so that I know for certain the door is locked or unlocked.Definitely spend the extra money for this model. It's built to last.

During a visit last year to my daughter, I was impressed with the keyless entry lock she has on her front door. I wanted a numeric pad I could press (not touch screen) and didn't want all the fancy WiFi connectivity, fingerprint or bluetooth notification options that increase the cost but really don't seem useful. This Kwickset lock seems to be of high quality with plenty of heft. I had to cut and mount the lock since I didn't have a deadbolt in previously and it went in easily. I've been using it for a couple of weeks now and it works exactly as I wanted. No more fumbling for keys while holding groceries. Good purchase!

Easy install, easy re-key using my existing key set. I don't want smart locks so these basic touch pad locks are perfect.

For a few years I kept wanting to get one of these locks and after some research, I found this perfect one! For the price, ANSI Class, features and build, it is the best deal you’ll ever gonna find!One of the most important factors when picking (pun intended) a lock, is to look for its ANSI Class certification. You’d want one that’s either ANSI Class 1 or 2. The ANSI Class 1 is usually commercial grade and a lot more expensive but at the minimum, a Class 2 would suffice. Nothing lower! NONE of the “no brand” Made somewhere in Asia locks sold on Amazon and which sport all sort of bells and whistles … are ANSI Class 2 or 1. And that matters.This lock is (ANSI Class 2).With that out of the way, I’ll say that installation was a breeze. It all fit. I got it all done in about 30 minutes time, including programming and setting it up. The built (Made in Mexico which I trust) is great. Heavy and hefty. Oozes confidence and security. Looks great and setting it up was very easy. I wanted something simple from the start, non-WiFi, app driven or even Bluetooth. I don’t trust any of these technologies as they’re easily hackable.The pad on this thing lights up and it’s easy to dial in the passkey. Opens up fast and effective. The same with locking. I have mine locking automatically but there are a lot of choices in terms of setting the lock up. The features are more than sufficient.Also very important to me, was the feature to open with a key. This particular model can be “re-keyed” but be aware that you’d need a Kwikset key that matches the 2 that come with the lock. I hid one outside the house, somewhere that is almost impossible to find (unless you know the place :-), just in case something happens and I cannot key code myself to unlock the lock. That was an important feature when choosing this lock.The entire family loves it and felt comfortable using it immediately. No more keys. Everyone has a code. Now, I can hold a whole bunch of things in my hands (coffee mug, backpack, lunch bag, etc) when I leave home and not have to fumble for keys to lock the door behind me! It locks by pressing one single button or automatically, after one minute. Or coming home late at night when I always had to make sure I got the keys ready! It’s liberating.I love this thing! A great product from a good company with long tradition in this business.

First of all, the lock looks great, especially the modern rectangular design in matte black. Second, the installation was a breeze; it took less than 30 minutes. At first, I thought the lock was malfunctioning, because the deadbolt would not close properly and would keep retracting and extending several times and make noise and the blinking red light would come on, and the door would still be unlocked. I was almost about to return the lock but, after playing around with the strike plate and taking some more measurements, it turned out the hole in the door frame wasn't deep enough to allow the deadbolt to extend all the way (one inch) into the wall. Once I took a chisel into the hole and scraped out some more wood, the deadbolt started working perfectly and also smoothly! I've only had the lock for a few days so I cannot say anything about battery life or longevity but, so far, so good.
