Q: Does it show weight in stones and lbs?

Yes it has lbs and stones and kilo" it's so cheap in price. Basically does the job. I weigh parcels with it and its perfect for the job. as all parcel companies want the correct weight. So go for it.

Q: Is it plastic or metal

The scales are metal with a soft cushion to step on. The display is magnifying for a easy read of your weight. Great accurate weighing scales for the price & such a good manufacturer.

Not sure what you mean.The scales should work when you step on them,the little wheel is an adjuster to set the pointer on the dial to zero,set that before you step onto scales ,otherwise you may be lighter or heavier than you thought!
