Nice glove
I was looking for a glove to play with my kids with. This is a great glove at a good price. Its crazy how expensive baseball gloves are now, so it made me happy to find a solid glove at a good price. It had a good break in rate. Looks great. About the right amount of flexibility. Not a bad glove overall.

Best in class.
In this price range, it's hard to find a better option than this glove. It's super comfortable and looks great. It comes virtually game ready out of the package, and is easy to break in. It was good to go after some manual working of the glove and a single catching session. I'm a grown man, 6'1", 275lbs with grown man sized hands, and the glove fits great. It would probably be an excellent choice for a bigger 12-13 yr old and will likely last throughout high school and beyond if properly maintained.

Great quality, but a rather tight fit.
I am a 31 year old guy, 5ft 9 in, ~160 lbs, with medium sized hands I suppose. The 12.5” Player Preferred model is rather tight around the fingers and thumb to start with. I don’t know if the fit will loosen over time. I am guessing mostly not. The thumb loop can be adjusted and re-tied easily enough, but not for the 4 finger(s) spacing.I ordered both this model and the Rawlings Renegade model in 13” off amazon. I am testing both out to see which one I like more. The webbing size is fine for this 12.5” size, but the difference with the overall fit of the hand between a 12.5” and 13” is staggering. There is a much more “snug” fit with the 12.5” size as I said, even though the 13” glove is a different model from Rawlings, called Renegade. I wouldn’t know how a 12.5” Renegade glove would compare to this Player Preferred series unless I ordered those specific sizes for each, which I did not.Overall, this Player Preferred glove genuinely “feels” higher in quality, while only being marginally more expensive... maybe $20 more or less than the Renegade model...but again the quality is noticeable! The Renegade 13” model also had interior leather stitching I could feel just below the pinky liner area when I move my pinky inward, whereas this Player Preferred 12.5” model did not have any issues with unwanted stuff I could feel inside the lining where the hand goes. When you buy a glove, no matter the cost, I imagine someone wants their hands to be comfortable and not have their hands “rubbing” against something that should not be there. It’s a small annoyance, but it’s definitely there! Maybe the Renegade 13” model I tried was an anomaly in that aspect for the questionable pinky lining? For more than $40, a person should be able to get a glove that doesn’t offer any discomfort for the lining area, no matter how minor.I like both gloves... I like Renegade’s extra hand space and larger webbing, but the Player Preferred model has quite a bit better construction with smaller webbing and a tighter fit. Also, both gloves had leather hand lining for the palm of the hand, then a different “warmer” material for the back of the hand. It’s a good combo for the interior lining that provides a quality feel no matter which glove you decide upon. Both have a Velcro strap— my 1st glove to have one— which really does help to provide a better fit than I thought the Velcro strap would.Decisions, decisions...I hope that I helped for someone on the fence between the two Rawlings models, or any glove(s) at similar price points!

A Game-Changing Experience
The Unboxing ExperienceWhen my Rawlings Player Preferred Adult Catcher’s Mitt arrived, I was immediately impressed by the prompt shipping. Upon opening the package, the glove was in perfect condition with no defects or issues. What truly surprised me was how broken-in it felt right out of the box - something rare for new baseball gloves.Performance on the FieldThe real test came at practice that night. After catching over 200 pitches, the mitt felt like an extension of my hand - as if I’d been using it for years rather than hours. The pocket formed naturally, and the glove responded well to fast pitches without excessive sting or resistance.Comparison to Premium BrandsAs someone who has played with Wilson, Marucci, Mizuno, and Nokona gloves, I approached this Rawlings mitt with measured expectations. I was genuinely surprised by how it rivaled these premium brands in comfort and performance. The break-in period was practically non-existent - a stark contrast to some high-end gloves that can take weeks of conditioning.Durability ExpectationsWhile I can’t yet speak to long-term durability, my experience with other Rawlings Ready-to-Play gloves over the past 5+ years gives me confidence that this mitt will stand the test of time. Their track record for durability at this price point is impressive.Final ThoughtsTo Rawlings: You’ve knocked this one out of the park. The Player Preferred Catcher’s Mitt delivers professional-level performance with virtually no break-in time. It’s a remarkable value that makes quality equipment accessible to more players. Keep up the incredible product development - you’ve earned a loyal customer.

Immediate Unboxing Review - Affordable and High Quality
First off, I am just a dad that is reviewing a glove for playing with my kids. I used to play competitive baseball, so I do have knowledge of glove quality, but I was not looking for a top tier professional style glove.Review: As soon as I opened the box, I knew I had made a great purchase. Then I put my hand in the glove, and it was confirmed. For a glove at this price, this was a steal of a purchase. It is high quality soft leather. It is not going to peel like the leather shell glove that are only slightly cheaper. It is probably closer to 60% factory break-in rate and 40% user, but I still could take this to play right now. The color of the leather is great too! I would recommend the H stitch pocket because the web is thick and durable compared to the thinner tight checker webbing. 5-star to start/I will update the review if needed, over time.
