What size(s) of mounting hardware are recommended for use by the manufacturer for the approximate 50kg/100lb max load?

I do not know what the manufacture recommends. I suppose it depends on the thickness of the place you are mounting it. I am going to be mounting mine into 3/4 inch wood so I got 3/4 inch screws which will work since the hardware itself will add some depth. As you can tell by my answer, I have not mounted it yet but think that once I finally do it will work nicely.

You do the lifting. The devices hold the table top in position. It will hold 25 pounds.

Is there a cross bar that restricts the width because it has to span 48"?

No cross bar, this could be used for any length really.
