Q: There are some bottles with "3x" on label. some without. both label as "age defying". both have "try-sheild" technology. what's different?

Neither answers above answered your important question. I took the time and see the ingredients have changed. They added two new ingredients, 1st on the list, which means they are the greatest amount in the makeup. Then they added many of the older ingredients use in the prior 2013c. Today it is very hard to know if changes in makeup are improvements or Not. Pause...I took this time to do what I was hoping one of you would do for me, compare the two. I must say that I noticed the side of my face with the newer 2017c Age Defying 3X looks smoother and does not magnify skin natural pores/skin as much as the original A-D firming and lifting does (viewer in a magnifying mirror).. The original did a great job reducing and smoothing look of skin for its time. So the 3X looks like a winner. Got you covered-girls.

Q: Is this for dry skin?

Nothing on the label specifies that it is for dry skin. However, I live in the high and dry desert of Southern California and I can tell you that this foundation does NOT dry out my skin. I use an Olay moisturizer and apply this foundation over it. No problems at all with dryness.

Q: how do I know which color to choose?

Go to a drug store or another store that carries this brand of makeup. Try and match the color to one shade lighter than the inside of your wrist, and not the wrist you wear your wrist on because that will be a bit redder and maybe a little darker than your face. This foundation is concentrated, so start with small amounts on the ring finger or a make-up sponge (my preference) to apply. Try waiting 7-10 minutes after applying moisturizer before applying foundation so it has a chance to absorb.

Q: Im looking looking for a long wear foundation, will this do?

I find that my morning application lasts all day until removed at bedtime. Love this product.
