Survived crash
My stampede hit a car tire during a speed run. Head on, direct hit, front end collision at 30 to 40 mph. The rear A arm ripped from the transmission from the sheer inertia and sudden stop. It's almost unbelievable that the steering servo even works at all afterwards, but I opened it up and found no damage the gears. I was using one of the plastic disc servo arms that comes with it, no servo saver. This thing is amazing, I'll probably get a servo saver just in case of future collisions though.UPDATE: While I have added a servo saver since my original review, I can now add electrical abuse to the list of things I've done to this thing. I made a mistake while trying to troubleshoot a receiver telemetry problem and accidentally hotwired the voltage input on this right to my 3s battery instead of through the BEC. That's double the operating voltage range of this servo. I realized my mistake when I saw how fast the servo motor was able to move. To my surprise, both the receiver and this servo are both still working. My only complaint would be that the servo horn screw always seems to work itself out, I've had to buy extra screws and thread lock.

High quality
I have used Hitec 5645's for many years. They are a reliable, quality servo perfect for scale and giant scale models less than 96 inch wingspan. Appropriate for all medium to giant scale rc models with the exception of large 3D, high stress models.

Perfect for budget 30CC Slick 540
I purchased 4 of these for a 30CC Slick 540. I am building this plane on a tight budget but still wanted to buy a servo I could trust. I installed them and set all the throws/etc using a standard 4.8V Nicad pack and they were okay. However once I installed the higher voltage system (regulated to 6.0V) they are really very good. They move the control surfaces with authority and very good speed. This is all out of the box with no programming at all. I am sure I could improve the performance if I programmed them.If you are looking for serious 3D performance these may be a touch slow for you. If you are a sport flyer like me and want a strong servo that will do everything you need, these are probably the best servo for the money you will find.

Best spec servo for club racing
If you are spec racing with a rule package that limits servo cost to <$50, you can do no better than this. Also, if you are looking to upgrade your plastic gear servo that came with your RTR, this is the one you want. HiTec is a trusted servo among RC racers world wide.

Stick to planes and helis for this one, it's too slow for a car
To those who want to use this for a car steering, it may have enough torque, but it's pretty slow. 0.2 seconds just isn't enough for quick reaction turns. Also, the metal lever horn that comes with it (and all the plastic horns) has super tight holes -- about 1mm. My steering linkage wants a 3mm screw through the ball end, so I had to drill out one of the plastic horns to fit the screw.I've seen this on other servos too (bigger, 20 kg ones,) so maybe that's just par for the course, but it's annoying. It's quieter and smoother than the Solar Servo D771 I'm replacing, but the D771 was a better fit for my car, performance-wise.

For SCX10 Steering Servo
I used this for an Axial SCX10 Dingo kit build. I paired it with a castle creations 10A BEC pumped up to 6 volts. It has the power to turn the 1.9" Pit Bull Rock Beast tires. I also bought the Axial 25t servo horn. This little servo seems to be holding up fine. I plan on replacing it with a hitec 7955 servo and using this to run my slash 4x4. If it breaks while using it on the scx10, I will update this review.
