The previous reply is incorrect. You are correct with your question, It is 1/2 Male (swivel at bottom) and 1/2 female as is shown in the picture.

The fitting does not restrict flow that I can tell in any position. I have it on a pressure washer hose real and it works fine.

Replacement for leaking swivel

I bought this swivel to replace my leaking general pump swivel. Much more robust than the swivel it came with. Took a few extra parts to get it working well but so far it’s held up. Get this if your general pump is spraying from the o ring behind the swivel.
