My old Samsung refrigerator was not cooling. I figured out that the timer is struck at heating/defrost mode. Manually I rotated it and it stopped again. Local technician was asking 1000/- for device and 500/- for repair charge. He also said bimetal thermostat is also defective and needs to be changed. 350/- additional for that. I checked the thermostat is working fine with a multimeter keeping it in another fridge. When at Room temp it shows open and when in freezer for some time the circuit should show closed, also checked thermal fuse for continuity. The culprit was the timer. I checked Amazon. Found exactly similar timer at 395/-. I removed the old timer and installed it myself and saved money. I have added pictures of old Samsung refrigerator timer and new timer from Amazon side by side. Both are same. The new timer is working fine.Caution : Do it yourself if you have knowledge about appliance, all instruments/ tools for repair and possible dangers. Disconnect plug before touching anything near compressor. It contains high voltage. Take pictures before removing wires from components, so that you can fix the correct wire looking at picture. Match wire colour code before fixing. Code is written on timer and Jack.
