If the battery is too low, it may not have sufficient power to run on AC alone. You will then need to charge it for 1 minute and THEN operate it while plugged in.

Does this trimmer shave hair completely when the attachments are removed?

It does, more or less. It really depends on the thickness of your beard. I use the trimmer to take my beard off then I shave with a razor for a clean shave.

how long will the oil to clean it last?

longer than the blades will. Meaning you will buy new blades before you run out. Tip, use only 3 to 5 drop of oil. 2 on the bottom metal inside of the blade, and 3 across the teeth. Turn on and clean off after.

I know this unit is washable, but can I also trim with it in the shower?

From what I can see in the owners manual it is not waterproof. It is only washable where the blade is located.
