Q: Can this rolling pin be used to make pierogi?

Although pierogi and ravioli are very similar - and I could see it working - these would be very tiny pierogi: the uncooked ravioli made with this pin are only @ 1 1/2" x 1 1/4" square. But with the ease and the sheer amount of them you can make at once - would eating lots of tiny pierogi bother your family? Probably NOT in the least! LOL! I have never made pierogi with it - but I say: GO FOR IT! MANGIA !!!

Q: I just got mine and it looks like raw wood. I was wondering if anyone treated theirs first with some kind of oil, or wood sealer prior to using it.

Mine is raw wood and works fine, being in contact with the dough hasn't affected it at all. Make sure you use a food grade oil or sealer if you decide to do that.

Q: Is this for marking or does the rolling pin actually cut it

The pin does press the layers together, but you will have to use a pizza cutter or knife to cut the ravioli apart. This makes nice small-size ravioli very quickly.

Q: Can anyone tell me if the filling part is really small? shallow?

Yes, the filling is really small, but not shallow. I only used it once and I haven't used it again.
