Q: How many 4ft light bars do I need to install above a 1 sq meter area of herb cuttings? Is it suffice to hang three of them?

Two should do nicely. It would be good if these lights told you how many lumens they put out. We found that two lights per four square feet of growing area put out enough lumens, in excess of 2,000 to make sure there was reliable light for growth. If you are ever going to do more or want a precise scientific way to know that buying a light meter (around $20.00) will let you know the lumens in each section of your growth area at the top of the growth area - thats helps adjust your lights for spacing or lets you know that if your plants are in pots which ones to rotate to a level with higher lumens periodically. Be sure if you buy a meter you get one thar reads lumens - the concentration of light as it hits a space. Q: Are these good for medical marijuana?

Is it light and will it grow it. Yes. However if you’re going to go through the time of growing and want decent yields then you’re going to want more powerful lights. If you’re in a 4X4 space I would recommend a 650w (from the wall) LED Bar light for even coverage.

I set the lights roughly 6 inches away from the top of the soil when starting Once the seeds have germinated I move lights away roughly 18 inches

I will let the company answer that one but I can tell you what I did. I put seedlings into 7 gallon pots on the floor. Then I made a light stand out of pvc that stood 4 ft off the ground. This worked perfect until the plants grew bigger and then I simply raised the lights to accommodate the plants. I would keep them between 1-3 feet above the plants for sun living plants. These lights are bright enough to mount on the ceiling (8’-9’) and grow plants on the ground from seedling throughout vegetative stage. Then you will want to lower them to about 2 feet above the plants during flower/fruit.
