Q: why is this peeling my items with serration, not smooth? Bumpy peeling, not smooth. Help!

Q: how do you clean this without getting hurt?

When your done with it just rinse it off & if there is food stuck in it use a toothbrush to loosen the food & rinse again (I keep a baby toothbrush with my scrubbies for times like this) ... let air dry -

Yes, this peeler is dishwasher safe. :-)

Q: Does this peeler swivel?

Yes it does. However, due to the handle arching over the blade it is a bit harder to clean. Still my favorite peeler, though.
