FABULOUS pan!!!!! NON-stick when used PROPERLY!!!!!
I was hesitant to buy this pan when I read some of the negative reviews... but after looking for 3 months for a suitable replacement 5 quart sauce pan that is a TRUE 5 quart pan, had a STAINLESS lid, AND would NOT break the bank once our stainless pan finally was busted beyond repair. I held my breath & ordered this one. Can I say we LOVE it... I mean LOVE LOVE LOVE it!! It is NON-STICK without the toxic chemicals found in teflon, ceramic, etc. AND we do NOT have to baby it to take care of it- WIN WIN!! In order to get a stainless pan to be non-stick you must use it CORRECTLY though, so don't review this pan whining that everything sticks to it when you didn't educate yourself how to use it PROPERLY. Heat the pan for 2-4 minutes over medium to high heat (it varies upon YOUR specific stove, burner size & speed, etc.), you can drop a few drops of water into the pan to test that it is heated up PROPERLY.. the water should GLIDE across the pan like an ice skater on ice.. if the water glides, then you are good to go... add a bit of oil, then your food, & it should be non-stick. There are some things that stick no matter what of if I OVERHEAT the pan, but almost everything we have cooked in this pan has NOT stuck to the pan. We LOVE it!! To clean it up, put it into the dishwasher or handwash it. If there happens to be food stuck to it or your oil gets caked on, add some hot water & a tad of dish soap, and let it soak for 15-30 minutes. It should clean up very easily after that. I have only had to use something a bit more abrasive ONCE so far (as SOS pad) & that is because it was oil that had kind of baked into the bottom in one area. With very little elbow grease, it scrubbed right out & looked brand new again. We use this pan about 4-5 days per week...sometimes 6-7.. for at least one meal though some days we use it for 2 or 3 meals. It works & works well! I would love to buy another pan down the line so we can cook even faster for our large family. Oh & this pan is a TRUE 5 1/2 quart pan, unlike our last that claimed to be 5 quarts but only held just over 4 quarts. GREAT pan!! I do RECOMMEND it!!

Great pan for the cost
Bought this pan because I am sick of nonstick pans that flake teflon. Stainless steel really is the way to go in that regard. Pros: stainless steel strong easy to clean easy to use maintenance is easy, just throw it in the dishwasher great for renting, every place seems to be installing glass top and doesn't allow cast iron (the other best choice in my opinion) Cons: -very heavy -scorches if used on high heat, according to instructions. I try to be careful and avoid that. If you want to do high heat get cast iron or another pan intended for high heat. -after 2 years use, the bottom is starting to form buildup of faint food particles or perhaps scratch/scuff marks. Doesn't seem to be an issue as far as cleanliness, just looks bad. -gets extremely hot in oven (obviously) so proceed with caution: RESPECT THE HANDLE AFTER BAKING

16 years of use and still in a great condition!
I purchased this pan 16 years ago (in 2009) on Amazon, and I still have it and use it all the time, and it’s in a great condition. I use it more than any other pan I have because I sauté in it, cook pasta sauce and then finish pasta in it, and I make risotto in it, up to 6 servings at a time. If I had to have only one pan in my kitchen, this pan would be it. It is the most versatile and dependable pan I’ve ever owned. The reason I’m writing this review now is, I was just wondering how long I’ve had this pan, and looked it up in my Amazon orders to find out. Then I decided that 16 years of great use is a good testament to its quality and that I should write a review about it. :) I mean, how often do you read a review after a review written a day or two after purchase and wonder, how can they know? They just got the thing. This review is based on 16 years of use.

A pleasure to use AND clean!
I've used this pan for a variety of meals since I got it a few months ago, and it makes cooking so easy. Despite being stainless steel, nothing sticks to the bottom and cleanup is fast and painless. I get a great sear on meats, sauté veggies with very little oil, and the size is spacious but still easy to pick up and move around. I'm pretty rough on my cookware and I haven't noticed any scratches on the pot or the lid so far, which is a bonus.

Love my new pan - just the right size for large quantities. Because it's stainless steel, you have to prep the pan before you place your meat to cook, in order to avoid sticking. I never use non-stick pans due to the non-stick coating getting into the food. I've had it for over a year now and wouldn't use anything else - it works for me. Some people complained that the oil/liquid accumulates around the edges leaving the center of the pan dry. This is designed for browning the meat at medium heat. Works well as long as you move the meat around for even browning/sauteing. You have to know how to use stainless steel pans!
