Perfect introduction to colors
We used this book with our science curriculum while discussing intermediary or tertiary colors - The second and third graders then decided which basing secondary colors most likely meet up each of these colors that we created a go fish game based off of the names of colors in this book - it’s wonderful!

This is not your ordinary color book, it is so much more!!!!
My son is four years old and obsessed with colors. he knows his primary and secondary colors and he even goes as far as to which colors mix to make other complex colors. This is a book that teaches the alphabet and colors - but these are not your every day colors. The colors in this book are superb and create quiet the vocabulary for young ones.I am not even sure I am able to put into words how much we love this book, honestly it is so great to see and teach colors beyond the basics.

LOVE the rich vocabulary- I have a copy in my art area of an early childhood classroom- connects the alphabet with rare words, which are so important for young developing readers.

Vivid Graphics Brilliantly Portrayed
I'm a professional designer and enjoy seeing cutting edge books being offered for the juvenile market. The Little Concepts: ABC Color book combines colors and their common applications in a vivid display of stunning graphics. The full page spreads couple text and illustrations in a playful manner that will help children learn about the beauty and subtly of color, and how they apply to our everyday lives. The timelessness of the quirky characters and the consistency of the design will keep kids (and adults) attention as the pore over these more uncommonly named hues. The color choices are fun, with each page featuring two different hues as the primary color scheme. The minimalistic, retro, clean-edge design lends a graphic approach that is easy to read and understand. The pages are a heavy coated card stock that will withstand repeated viewings.I love ABC Color as an art book and appreciate the time and thought that this lovingly conceived book delivers.~ Kort

Oh, this is absolutely addictive! If you love color, this book is for you; age is no object.
I have fallen deeply in love with this book. As a knitter and quilter, I inhabit color in my craft. Shades, contrasts and new colorways are hugely exciting to me. This is a delightful hardbound book with an A-Z of colors and shades. Each page also shows different color combinations. The art is Dick Bruna-esque. The pages are super heavy stock. The colors are superb. This is a wonderful book to spark children’s imaginations but fun for the adults around them as well. The book is printed in China if that is an issue for you. It is beautifully made and will endure much handling. I only wish I’d had this book as a wee one!

Great book for all ages - something for everyone
This is a great book! It is a book for many ages - I read it with my 3, 5, and 7 year old boys.My 7 year old is just starting to read and this one is an easy one in terms of not so many words, yet challenging to sound out unfamiliar words. He really liked the words that were familiar such as daffodil and apricot, but as other items and not colors. My 4 year old liked the color names - it is so much more exciting to say burgundy than red and turquoise than blue! He thought “zomp” was just hilarious and I must admit I never heard that color before at the age of 41!! The very last page has a summary of each color so we could see all at once and talk about our favorites. My 3 year old liked the big pictures and contrasting colors - I think this aspect is even good for babies who thrive on sharp contrast instead of detail. Also the board books are good for this age.Other than the literary content, the pictures were nicely done. Lots to look at on various pages, and the contrasting colors were striking.

Expands your child's vocabulary and stimulates his/her mind
I come from a family of artists and writers. We have large vocabularies and varied palettes. So when I saw this book posted online, I thought, "Here's something to satisfy both creative passions!"This board book is simple, but stylish. It starts out by acknowledging the six basic colors most children know, but then it reminds them that there are many more hues in our "colorful world."Each of the twenty-six pages to follow features attractive duets with the following: On the left, you'll see two letters of the alphabet and two exotic names of colors that begin with them on a background that merges the highlighted hues in an eye-catching design. On the right, you'll find a picture of a character--such as a person or an animal--that is printed with those colors.Young children will be captivated by the bright colors chosen for their high contrast. Those that are developing verbal skills will be able to spot familiar shapes (e.g.--circles and diamonds), animals (dogs and a cat), foods (lemons and cake), and other objects (a bus and a trumpet). At the back of the book is a place to review the new colors. The opportunities for adults and children to interact over this book are limited only by the imaginations of those involved! Some of the colors you will recognize, such as burgundy, chartreuse, ivory, jade, mauve, navy and turquoise. Many are names of flowers or fruits, including apricot, daffodil, eggplant, fuchsia, goldenrod, honeydew, lavender, violet and wheat. Some words I have heard before, but not as colors (e.g.--razzmatazz and xanadu). And the last one was entirely new.The book seems to be solidly bound with stiff pages young fingers will be able to turn without mangling. The cover can probably be wiped with a damp cloth to remove the sticky residue little ones seem to leave behind; however, I would not recommend that treatment for the inside pages, since they are not as slick. This publication is a production of Walter Foster, Jr., an imprint of The Quarto Group, designed to spark creativity and inspire future artists. If you are looking for something that will interest both you and your child, this is a good choice. Break out of the norm of cutesy children's storybooks, and choose something that will ignite their imaginations instead!
