Works with Linux
I got this 7 external USB adapter card to replace a StarTech 5 external USB card that died on me. I was in a hurry clicking to buy it, and didn't pay attention to OS support. When the card arrived, I replaced the old card and hit the power switch. My MSI motherboard booted without issues with this new card installed, and my Debian installation didn't even think twice about it. The jump drive that I had plugged into the card, to maintain connector alignment when I installed it, popped right up in my file browser as soon as my DE loaded.Only at that time did I think about OS support, and came back to review this and other listings. Of this style of adapter, I seem to have lucked-out; because I just do not see it mentioned on other manufacturers cards of the 7 external port configuration.Transfer speeds are right up to snuff, as advertised, which was not the case with my old USB adapter card; pf which I have three more installed in my machine. I'll definitely be replacing the other StarTech cards with this model.

Forget about searching for drivers
I spent a whole week searching for a proper driver for this to work properly and found the original source, which would not download properly (the site's problem, not my PC)Sometimes it can "work" for data transfer, but I only use it for things that need USB power and nothing else.It was easy to install though. Open PC case, plug it in, screw it into place and close the case back up.I recommend avoiding this and simply get an external USB hub to plug into one of your USB 3.0 ports.

Doesn't work under win 7 pro 64 bit.
Followed all the instructions, Downloaded and installed the drivers, installed the card and power connection. Windows recognizes the card but does not see anything you plug into the card. UPDATE: The next morning I thought - heck I'll test it one more time before I send it back - And it worked. I just took a long time to recognize that a new drive had been plugged in. I thought, no problem, I'm not going to plugging and un plugging the stuff thats hooked into it, external drives, webcam, port expander and the like. Update 2 Well today, the windows doesn't see the card, let alone the devices. it's coming out and going back.

Did not work with Windows 7
(+) It looks like a well made board.(-) You must give the installation program permission to do whatever it wants even though the publisher is unknown.(-) The driver installation program has bugs: Sometimes it froze up, sometimes it said it was successful, and other times it could not find the hardware.(-) Even when "successful", the device manager showed it was not working.(-) It would never connect to any device.(-) Customer support was polite but useless.FYI: The instructions say some wireless network adapters & bluetooth won't work with this card.I hope this is just one bad experience and that it works for you.
