Incredibly helpful, eye opening, nonjudgemental.
I have two kids and as it is pretty usual, they are quite different in the sense of their temperament. I started struggling with my younger one. I work full time and my 4 yo was having a hard time with a lot of things that are so basic fr an adult human. Dinner time, going to sleep, doing what I asked her to do. At the end of the day, I could feel my blood boiling and my brain getting foggy when I heard a 20th excuse why she can't go to sleep. And I ended up raising my voice. Ok, I yelled. And I hated it. This book is showing me multiple things- why kids react the way they do. What can we do in the sense of external factors and what can we do to get ourselves in a mindset that will allow us for a kinder approach. All and all I love this. The scientific backing helps me a ton too- I am a data-driven person and evidence is important for me to listen:) It's brilliant.

Loved it and a good read for any parent
Great read for any parent. Really sets the current situation of our children into a light that I hadn't thought of before. Sure, we think they watch too much TV/games/phones/etc. but she lays out a technical case for why we as parents need to change the way we parent.

Incredibly Eye Opening!
This book was incredibly eye opening. Not only did it detail out specific ways that I can parent in a more mindful way, it actually opened my eyes as to why my own stress level has been incredibly high in recent years and tips for how to calm myself down. When I am less connected to my digital devices and more connected to my kids and my husband, our life is so much easier to manage. I am incredibly grateful to this book for showing me that my amygdala really needs some down time and constant connection to my iphone or binge watching tv programs are only making the problem worse. I had no idea how much additional stress I was creating in my day to day life. I find that most non-fiction books these days are about 15% content and 85% page count - not the case with this book. Every chapter is jam packed with science based evidence for the problem and mindfulness based tips for the solution.

AWESOME
As a meditation teacher, I find this book to be invaluable. I highly recommend it if you want to understand how today’s technology is impacting our children. What makes this book stand out among the rest is that the strategies and techniques are supported by brain science research. The information is well organized and I now have a book I can recommend to parents when they ask what they should read! I liked the book so much I bought a copy for several parents of young children I know as well as the parents of my 6 grandchildren.

Real life examples and strategies grounded in science
This book begins with an explanation of basic brain science and how the brain is effected by our environment. It then rolls out a bunch of strategies that you can try right now without therapy or investing a ton of time and money; Strategies that can help both you and your kids lead calmer, happier more fulfilling lives. The author's down to earth and real life examples make the book applicable to all. She also touches on ADD and makes a case for using the same strategies in helping kids with those challenges.

This is a good read for people like me who does not completely understand biology and the detail workings of our mind and body. I found this book very interesting and easy to apply to my own life and family.

Great book for parents and grandparents to read
This is an excellent book, timely and very readable. It will also appeal to grandparents as well as parents. Grandparents will also enjoy reading this book as it refers often to their own very busy children who are the parents of their grandchildren. Many very helpful hints to encouraging communication within the family of all ages. You can give this book as a gift without appearing that you are criticizing parenting - just offering another great resource for busy parents.

If you are new to the notion of mindful parenting this may be a great starting place
As the title suggests, this book is a simple foray into mindful parenting strategies. For me, it was just ok, as I already have quite a bit of knowledge about mindfulness. If you are new to the notion of mindful parenting this may be a great starting place. If you are looking for more depth, you may wish to try one of the other books available in this area.
