This product has been around for forever with just about every business having one outside there doors. When I scrolled through the reviews I found the very first one is about a guy complaining about how it caught on fire and this product is junk. I myself have seen these catch on fire a few times. When I say "catch on fire" I mean it starts smoking pretty bad. What usually happens is someone will use it as a trash can and shove a napkin or some candy wrappers inside then the next person throwing his cigarettes' inside won't flick the cherry and before you know it you got a fire. Just stay calm, pour some water in it, empty it and you're good to go. You need some common sense to use this properly.

We had a butt can, so to speak, on the front porch and it always looked nasty. I have seen these things in front of businesses and thought if I could get one smaller than the ones you see on storefronts for the porch that would be awesome. And here it is. After doing some research on the sizes I picked this one and it looks fantastic on the porch. Way better than a butt can. It seems to extinguish the cigarette pretty fast too so you don't have that smell lingering. Inside there is a tin style bucket that catches the butts as you throw them in. You can add some sand around the base if you want to add some extra weight but so far I haven't needed to do that. It seems pretty heavy enough for the winds we get here. It opens simply by turning the large wing nut style screw, pop off the top and take the can out and dump it. Easy. I would watch getting water in the can as it is tin and it will rust fast. After cleaning your can out just make sure its dry before adding it back into the receptacle. I see someone gave it a 1 star because it was too small. Folks, the dimensions are in the description. Thats a pretty lame review if you didnt read the description. Its pretty good size just a bit smaller than the ones you see in front of stores...but who would really want that huge thing on their porch? IDK maybe someone. Anyway check out the dimensions and see if its right for you...its been perfect for us. Happy Shopping!!

This is an excellent item. The bucket inside is a great size to not have to empty it to often. I put sand on the bottom to add some weight so it doesn't blow over. The screw to open it for emptying has a nice size plastic handle and is easy to turn with no tools required. For everyone who said its shorter than they thought, it's 36 inches which it clearly states in the description and from where I'm from 36 inches is 36 inches. The opening to drop your butts in is large enough for a cigar unless you are shaking from being outside in the cold and can't hold your hand still, there is no problem dropping a butt into it. Once you do drop a lit cig in no smoke comes out of it. This is a perfect solution to a messy problem and is the perfect size for a porch or patio without being to obtrusive. Looks good. Well made and does what it supposed to do.

This was better than expected. I gave 4 stars cuz I've only had it for 2 months. I bought it for where I work. Me and another co worker are the only smokers now. And even as a smoker the ashtrays get nasty & smell. This was even better than what I thought it would be. I haven't weighted it. I did put it in a corner. Between myself the other girl and multiple clients it works very well. It's been a month since I emptied it. Was trying to gage how often it would need emptied. It somewhat had a tad of smoke coming out but only because many people happened to be using it at exactly the same time. Otherwise it never does. The non smokers are thrilled that we got it. It's very handy as sometimes I need to put a cig out quickly & get back inside. No worries about it festering in an ashtray until the cig burns itself out. Just drop & go! Very pleased!

Quality heavy duty product with large capacity. Easy to unscrew fastener knob and put back together. Extremely thick, sturdy construction for the plastic, and the metal internal bucket. Was surprised how big this was, but I’m really glad I got the bigger size as the bucket takes awhile to fill up generally. Highly recommend and definitely worth the price. We got this for our air bnb as we do not allow smoking inside, but wanted to create a nice area outside for our guests in the garden. They really appreciate it, the few smokers who stay. Edit The only suggestion I would make to the company who makes this product, is to put a small window to look inside. Then you could see if it actually needs to be opened or not first. A lot of times I open it, only to find it’s completely empty. It would save a little time and effort with a small window.

It's simple, it's sturdy, and it comes in a lovely green. I purchased this outdoor ashtray so I'd stop discarding butts on my driveway, an old habit that ought to be easier to drop than the smoking. I'm happy to have it, to keep myself in check.

This is a great but small cigarette bucket. It is smaller than most others, so make note it is 30" which is good for it's price. This has cut down on the cigarette butts being tossed around the grass where I placed it. The fact that it's being used has fulfilled my wishes for what it was bought for. I do strongly recommend filling the internal bucket half-way with sand, which is recommended in it's instructions. It gives the bucket much more stability with sand in it. It is a sturdy little item and blends well with beige stucco which makes it less of an eye sore than others. So, it isn't offensive to those who dislike smokers being outside. It was a worthy investment to me and contribution to the location I placed it at for the other people I share it with.

I purchased two of these for use at our community clubhouse. I've placed one at the front door so we can eliminate the unsightly cigarette butts at the entrance, and I've placed the other on our deck that overlooks the pool. During the Fall, Winter, and Spring, I've found that users of the clubhouse tend to pitch their cigarettes over the edge of the deck, and in some cases they've landed on our custom pool cover, burning holes in and weakening the cover. During the Summer months, cigarette butts that get into the pool can cause serious issues with our filter. Hopefully these containers will provide an option to reduce those problems. Per Justrite's suggestion, I've added sand to the pail and to the bottom of the container to help weight it down. So far we've experienced several thunderstorms and they've remained stable. Time will tell, but I think this is the perfect solution to our problem. I'm thinking of obtaining a few more of the "personal" sized containers for use on the pool deck as well.
