Great story arc
Great story arc. Too bad the series was cancelled.I love the characters, and I love the art style. Little jarring without the Annihilation series, which is supposed to provide context for all of this.

You won't be able to put this one down when you start reading!
I never picked this up when it was individual issues years ago, and now I'm sort of glad I waited. The writing here is fantastic, and the only way to describe this volume is "thrill ride". Every issue ends on a cliff-hanger that forces you to keep reading and if I'd had to wait a month between issues it would have been frustrating. This volume has almost everything, including more versions of the Guardians of the Galaxy than you realize were out there as our heroes end up time-traveling and dimension-hopping at one point (always a fun formula for a cosmic comic). At one point halfway through the book, the line-up changes dramatically and it only adds to the book's appeal. You can easily see why a movie was made about these guys when you read this. The commentary between Rocket and Star-Lord is witty and sometimes hilarious, and the heroes constantly seem to be thrown in situations way over their head...while still finding a way to come out of it victorious (but often at a cost). If you are a fan of the cosmic Marvel stuff, grab the first volume of this collection and go from there.

Excellent Guardians of the Galaxy story
Glad this was put into reprint recently, it closes the gap between the original Guardians of the Galaxy comic and 'The Thanos Imperative', which I can also highly recommend.Excellent writing, very funny at times, the story doesn't go over your head with all the different planets and characters and subplots, there's a lot of well done time travelling and the art style is so good you'll take your time reading it to just marvel at the artist's talent. Not to be confused with the Brian Michael Bendis run of Guardians or the recent movie, this is the sequel to Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 1 (original print 2008 I believe), taking place after the Annihilation Wars that left the Marvel universe a little worse for ware, the Guardians of the Galaxy teleport around weakened areas of space trying to repair it to stop further damage being done. Best thing about this team? There's no real heavy hitters here.No Silver Surfer, no Thor, no Hulk, there's a real sense of danger when they go into battle, and a great sense of achievement when they come out okay. Well worth the read, but be sure to grab volume 1 first or you'll be a bit lost.
