Ummmm...It's a BELT people! But, it works just fine...
The belt on my Pro-Ject Essential III Sgt. Peppers 50th Anniversary 'table literally went slack because I had the turntable placed near a window and the heat from the sun literally softened said belt enough for it to FALL OFF!What to do?!I bought another one. Yup. A belt made by Pro-Ject for this 'table. And it went on with ease and I once again could play my records on this turntable! You will notice that I did not give any STARS for "sound quality".Because it is a BELT and it should not have any effect other than the platter spins 'round and 'round at the proper speed sans and slippage and that is exactly what this belt does. Only a frAudiophile assigns "musical qualities" to a freaking belt. You know, the kind of people that put M&Ms on top of their speakers and claim to "hear a difference". Or use a green marker to "seal" the edges of CDs so that "transient laser light" cannot escape out of the edge of the CD and maker their ears hurted.Dumb.So then, buy this belt if yours is worn out. Buy this belt if you were stupid like me and placed your turntable in direct afternoon sunlight and it fell off the spindle and platter due to heat induced stretching. But know ahead of time it is great at being a BELT and will probably work for a few years barring any owner induced stupidity (like me!).Trust me. I know what I'm doin' when I'm reviewin'.

Replace ~1 a year
I love my Essential III turn table. I play about 20-25 hours a week and began to notice a difference in play speed. Checked and sure enough I was slow. Replaced the belt and back up to 33 1/3!
