Does it work with Windows 7?

I had no problem with it working with my Windows 7.

Would I need a second cable to connect it to my TV? This look like the female ending? Do I need to buy the male?

Hi Rafe,This adapter is not for watching on TV. It's for your computer and it shows up on your monitor thru the software ( CD ) they provided.The female Y,R,W cable are connected to the VCR ( Y,R,W ) connectors. Ignore the black one.Then plug in the other end ( usb ) into your computer usb port.Install software and run it on your computer.Put in a tape and play you see the video on your computer thru the software.Then you can record it and save it as mp4 or whatever format it has.vcr has females and this adapter has females so yes you need Y,R,W male to connect them. These s-video cables are cheap like $2?I recorded around 10 old VCR tapes on my computer. It works nicely!

Does it work with windows 8 ?

I purchased this and could not get it to work on Windows 8 64 bit. The drivers that come with it on the CD don't even match up with the device under windows 8 so it doesn't recognize it. I tried some drivers I found after searching online which made the device appear but something was still wrong as any capture software I used could find the device but not actually capture since it said the "device was already in use by another application".I did then try it on a Windows 7 32-bit machine where the drivers that came with it did "work" and I quickly tried the ULEAD software that came with it and I could see the incoming capture stream but the software kept crashing (might have been uLEAD and not the device) so I just gave up since I wasn't going to be doing capture on that windows 7 machine anyway. All of my video editing software in on my windows 8 machine and this just got to be too complicated for the trouble.

I have got a lot of easycaps for the past few months and none of them have work the only reason is because the disc was the yellow kind. what kind of disc is it?

I have the yellow disc and mine works. I'm using windows 7 and had to download drivers. Mine was a FAKE Easycap by the way. It only works using the VCR to DVD software provided, and then if you begin the vhs tape before opening the software. You can then rewind to where you want to begin, etc. and it works great. It wasn't worth returning for the price I paid so I kept playing with it until I figured it out. Hope this helps!
