American Heritage Chocolate Bars - 57% Cacao Artisanal Dark Chocolate Bar with Hints of Vanilla, Orange and Cinnamon, 1.27oz Candy Bar/Tablet (Pack of 4)

I am familiar with this chocolate from many, many visits to Colonial Williamsburg. It is a favorite of mine and I always purchase extra to bring home. The chocolate is unique. I’ve heard that the recipe is based on an 18th century chocolate. Whether that is true or not I cannot say. However this chocolate is quite different and very good, especially if you like dark chocolate. Hints of cinnamon, orange, etc.What really stood out with this order is that my 2 bundles of chocolate were shipped with an ice pack. I am sure my order could have melted while traveling cross-country. I did not. It could also have been shipped without an ice pack only to arrive in an unknown condition. My order arrived safe and sound. Thank you for taking that extra step!

This chocolate is exquisite. I fully concur with the review that proclaims it the “best chocolate” because the deeply nuanced flavors and flawless texture are perfection and unlike anything I’ve had before. In fact, I’m going to order another box right away - the one already on hand for eating out of hand and the new spare one for use in the creation of recipes (some of which recommend the use of this specific chocolate) from the delightful book “Great Moments in Chocolate History” written by Mars’ chief agriculture officer. I am deeply glad that I stumbled across the book and then took a leap of faith in ordering a $40 box of chocolate (after tax). I highly recommend both the chocolate and the book. One last note - I ordered the chocolate on April 21 and expected delivery in 5 - 7 days. The chocolate arrived today, April 23, less than 48 hours later and was tenderly packed in cold chain appropriate materials. Bravo!

I got some of this chocolate at Monticello gift store and was obsessed. However, they don't sell the bars that I remember, and only sell these. Not quite what I remember, but still good.

Ordered this chocolate as a gift. The recipient was delighted with it. True dark chocolate with hint of spice and a pleasant hint of heat. A very satisfying bit.

Good tasting chocolate.. The heading indeed shows you get just 4 small bars that total 5 ounces. Yet tge detailed description claims 24 bars with a total weight if 30.48 ounces. Also the weight shown at the top suggests the same 30.48. Regular price of $36 supposedly reduced to $9 it claims. That $36 retail price must have been for 24 bars! Else if 5 ounces total (4 tiny bars), it’d have a non discounted price of over $100 per pound. Totally misleading advertisement! So at $9 you are “just” paying about $30 per pound. The packaging (ice pack, etc) for just 5 ounces of product is extremely wasteful environmentally.

Anyone who likes dark chocolate- these are top notch and worth the money.
