Awesome silverware!
When my finance and I were setting up a house, I found some Oneida on clearance at a store going out of business. I bought it for a steal and was very happy. But as time went on, spoons were lost, forks misplaced, etc and we were frequently running out of silverware between dishwasher runs. So here we are a couple years later I decided to get another set. I purchased this as it looked the most similar to what we had and were happy with. Boy was I wrong! This is WAY nicer than what we had--much sturdier and so pretty! Even my husband, who isn't known for his his attention to details such as silverware, commented on how much he liked it. We both love it. We aren't fancy people (no fancy china or anything) but this will look nice for those few dinner parties we do host. Plus it makes scooping out hard ice cream and serving foods much easier. It is simple, yet elegant and feels great in your hand--nice weight, but not unwieldly. In fact, we were SO pleased with the new set that we decided to get another set with some Christmas $ and give the old set away. However, I paid $54 for the 8-person/45-piece set on Dec 8, 2010 (with free shipping) on Amazon and here we are on Dec 26th and it has now jumped to over $90 when you factor in shipping through Target! I was disappointed and although I was happy with it, I'm not willing to pay almost double less than a month later for the same exact product. My advice would be to add it to your cart and wait for it to be sold by Amazon again in the $50-60 range and snap it up! All in all, we are VERY happy with the product, just disappointed with the jump in price on Amazon, but as this is a product review, then a review of the product you'll get :-) UPDATE: Sept 3, 2011: After using the new set for a while, I am just as pleased as when it first arrived. I decided to order another set. I noticed some reviews saying that depending on where the sets were made, the quality changed. Boy were they right! I looked at my original (not as nice set) and it was from China. The newer (much nicer) set was made in Indonesia! The difference was unbelievable! While the set from China is still acceptable, it doesn't even hold a candle to the Indonesian set! I put the set in my cart and waited until the price dropped to where I was happy (about $42 bucks) and bought it. It arrived and I anxiously looked at the box for a country of origin--"Made in Indonesia!" YAY! I opened it up and it was the superior quality. I happily washed them and ousted the old China set from my drawer. I just saw today that the price jumped up to $79--yikes! A 100% increase in 5 days! Really, Amazon! That's a bit steep! But it's a great set and like I said before, put it in your cart and when it drops in price again, go for it! Then, when it arrives, make sure it's from Indonesia!

Oneida Mooncrest
I purchased this set of Oneida Mooncrest flatware for my son setting up a new household. I really like the looks of this pattern and am very happy I purchased this set. . I found it on Amazon and had not seen it in person. The pieces are substantial feeling and are the quality I have always found in Oneida. Note: the dinner forks are a bit on the larger side compared to other Oneida patterns I own but will work fine for a young man’s use. Includes 5 pc place setting for 8 plus serving pieces. Nice !!

No rust problem here - really nice set!
After I bought these, I read the reviews in detail of this item (probably not smart) - a lot of people complained that the sets marked from "China" were rusting right away after the first wash. So once I received mine and saw that it was a "China set" I started looking for issues right away. I washed these suckers and pulled them out of the dishwasher and inspected them like Mary Poppins. I think I saw one teeny tiny rust stain on one of the knives but I was able to rub it off with my finger. Hm. I've had them for 2 months now and I haven't seen any more rust. I feel bad that so many people had a bad time with these, but maybe they have changed the formula since the reviews. I really like the weight of these pieces, and the general look. They are very clean and modern. I prefer silverware that doesn't remind me of my childhood in the 80's, with all the leaves carved into the knives, and the cheapy thinness that I grew up with. These pieces are hefty, shiny, sturdy and really classy. I love them. I'm so glad I haven't had any rust issues. If I were you, if you really like these, get them. Take the chance. Because if they work for you and you don't get the rust issue (or if you aren't fancy and you're ok with rubbing off an occasional tiny rust stain because whatever) then these pieces are worth it.

Best Utensils ever
I almost never right reviews on amazon but found the order for theses wail looking through old orders for some bulk Stevie my wife wanted to reorder. I actually thought the good forged stuff was no longer available. I had wanted to order a 3rd set for some time now, but honestly couldn't remember the style or where I ordered them from in 2008. After 11 years they still look as good as new, and the tea spoons will still scoop hard ice cream from my deep freezer. Hell the forks will scoop ice cream, and yes I have tried just to see if they would. I have only ever managed to bend the tine on one of the forks and that was using it as mini pry bar. The only down side to having them is they are not allowed to leave the kitchen/dining room I was afraid my kids would lose them. Now that I know they are still available 11 years later I think i will order another set or 2 and put away to replace any future loss. Edit It has now been 15 years since my origional order and I have 1 bent fork tine thats it. Oneida forged flatware is worth every penny. Over the years I have purchased several sets as gifts and they all love them just as much as I do. To those who have seen rust spots I suspect someone has exposed your flatware to bleach. Cleaning them in bleach or a taking them to a pool is a very bad idea. As a chemical engineer I can decisively say one of the few things that will eat up stainless is clorine (espacilly heated clorine like in a dishwasher). DO NOT USE BLEACH to clean them EVER! Stainless forms an oxide layer of chromium on its surface that is invisible and leaves it looking like polished steel. Chlorine ions strip the chromium layer off the surface and destroys the protective coating of stainless allowing it to pit and rust. I wish they made forged plates cups, bowls and pans. I would defietly buy them even if they cost $500.00+ since I wouldnt ever need to buy dishes again.
