Why does this take so long to dissolve in boiling water? Why is there always some sediment left?

Spices aren't soluble. Like salt or sugar. Spices are tiny fibres from fruits and seeds and bark. They soften and stick go food giving off flavours and aromas.

This is cardmon but some people call it cardmon pod , you can peel pod and just use seeds or just add to receipe with pod on.

Sumac has a tiny amount of salt and no preservatives.

What are the ingredients in the Berbere spice mix please?

I have only tried the Bangalore rub, its got a great flavour leave overnight with the juice of 3 lemons on 2.5 kilos of chicken pieces with onion and crushed garlic, its similar to jerk, I think the Berbere is a similar product, their stuff is great.
