Only Socket 7 Series is compatable with Square POS App
I purchased three of these for use in our Fireworks Fundraiser Tents, all performed flawlessly. I was fortunate to have been made aware that only Socket series 7 scanners had be approved for used on iPads with the Square POS app.

I feel this is way overpriced
I believe because it is one of the only Bluetooth scanners that is officially supported by Square and Shopify that they have jacked the price way up. I have been able to use a cheap $60 BT scanner with both and get almost the same result. I just get constant errors just saying the scanner isn't officially supported. So feels like money is kicked back to the two biggest POS systems for small businesses for them to almost force this scanner on you.

Battery doesn't hold a charge after 2 months of usage. Problematic, looses connectivity constantly!
This piece of equipment was extremely expensive, and it is very buggy. We are using it with Shopify, which unfortunately only connects/supports to this brand of scanner, but it constantly looses connection and it has done so in the middle of transactions with clients. Fortunately we use an iPad, and use its camera to scan tags and complete the transaction. But this should not be the case! It now turns itself off as soon as you try to scan an item. I turn it back on and it connects normally, but as soon as I scan a tag again, it shuts down. I've found that if I leave it connected to the power supply, it will work. It still has intermittent connection, meaning it connects and disconnects from Shopify and iPad many multiple times during the work day. But at least, when it is connected to the iPad/Shopify, and it is connected to the power adapter, it will scan. This leads me to think that it has a defective battery of some sort. I have looked this up, and unfortunately, others are suffering similar experiences with scanners from this brand. It is utterly annoying because I have other scanners which are far less expensive, and they have been very reliable over the years.

The device does not seem to hold charge. Beware
Like others reviewers have mentioned here, the battery does not seem to hold charge for long and many users have reported the device as good as is dead after a few months without having it plugged in. The issues have plagued my S740. We also have a S700 scanner but battery it seems to be ok so far. (Only the S700 is not very accurate when scanning our barcodes). It's not amusing having a defective device as each of us here rely on these devices to support our business operations. I contacted socket mobile support, while they tried to be helpful they only advised us to take batteries out leave it for a while and plug it back in.I concluded it's the actual batteries rather than the device itself that's the cause. So a tip to try is to get a pack of 2 NIMH rechargeable AA batteries and it may fix the issues that we were having. The ones that came with my S740 were rated 2000mAH but I bought a pack rated 2600mAh and seems to work so far. We don't have the time to send these scanners back to Socket Mobile to diagnose and test. Not when we have retail businesses to run.

Did not work for very long
Not worth the price. It only worked for a few months and then wouldn't charge. I just came on here to see if I bought a warranty b/c the battery was definetly bad -acid is coming out of it.

Lot of money for a lot of nothing
We purchased it to use it with our square iphone/ipad app. Connection is very difficult, it doesn't recognize the app, you scan the barcode in the app, and nothing. Try to connect it to bluetooth, nothing. Then all of a sudden, it connects, you don't know how, and it works until the iphone/ipad goes into sleep mode, or either the scanner goes into sleep mode, and then it's to try to connect all over again. all the while, customers are standing there tapping their fingers waiting for you to get it together. Unfortunately, time has expired for me to return it, or it would have been long gone.
