No. The photo makes them look a little like patent leather. If you enlarge it, you'll see the grain. The leather is buttery soft and although there is a little gloss from the oils protecting it, it is not shiny.

Q: Are they warm enough in cold weather?

They are extremely warm for a dress/driving glove in 0 degrees. They have extremely good grip on the steering wheel. You can still "feel" through them. They are not made for playing in the snow and they are not waterproof.
