Ideal for BMW Airhead
I have this bag on my BMW R100RS airhead. I tried several Chase Harper bags, including the 1602M and the 1700M (I was determined to find the right one) and this is the one that fits the contour of the tank best - both fore and aft and side to side. I like the size and shape of the bag - it fits the tank quite well without covering the filler cap (don't want to plug the vents) and without interfering with my knees or the bars. For me, it's a good height: it allows me to get down in the crouch but still holds enough to be quite useful. If you had a more upright setup (the R100RT for example) and wanted more storage, you might like the taller 650M, which seems to have the same footprint. The quality of the bag is superb - strong stitching, thoughtful placements of pockets, and very strong magnets. I use the stem strap for an extra level of safety. I also have to admit that the fact that it's made in the USA made me feel good about spending a few extra dollars on this bag.

Excellent! High Quality!
This Chase Harper 450M tank bag is the perfect size for my Triumph Speed Twin 900. I’m very happy with it. Great quality and fit. And magnetic mounting makes for easy on and off (on a steel tank, of course). It’s not big, but it’s certainly big enough for my needs. It’ll hold a couple of bottles of water, maybe some snacks, an extra pair of gloves or socks, phone, wallet, car keys, glasses, a baseball cap, and whatever other small stuff I need on a day trip or don’t want to risk losing from my pockets just running around town. Maybe even a light rain slicker too (though at worst there are cross-laced bungees on top for that sort of thing). The four neodymium magnets are plenty strong enough to hold it in place at speed. It comes with a head-stock safety strap, but it’s really not necessary. To the design’s credit though, if you do use the safety strap, it’s got a quick-release buckle. A shoulder strap and a clear map pocket that can be clipped on top are also included. Very well thought out. Construction is tip-top quality. Very well designed and sturdy. It’s padded and keeps its shape even when empty. Best of all, really, is how well it fits a teardrop tank, being roughly oval shaped (top view). I highly recommend this tank bag, especially for retros, if you want some on-board storage capacity that's not too unwieldy.

Expectations exceeded. Great tank bag for sportbikes.
I tested this tank bag on my sportbike. It's an '02 (AKA "K2"), so there's much more real estate on the tank than newer bikes. This tank bag exceeds my expectations. Ironically, my first impression was a bad one: I thought it was ridiculously small. Maybe it appeared so tiny because I had a full size tank bag years ago. I was concerned that the small wings that contain the magnets wouldn't be nearly enough to hold it in place. Let me disabuse you of any such notion. This bag is freaking awesome. It's the perfect size. I think the magnets would keep the bag firmly in place even at 180 mph. Neodymium magnets are no joke. The bag is light weight, and comes with a belt in case your tank is a composite. Just be careful placing the bag on your tank. The magnets can bang against your tank. Same goes with pulling them off. I might try a thin microfiber in between the tank and magnets. As per the instructions, keep computers and drives away from this bag lest you corrupt your data from the magnets. I attached the clear tablet/phone sheet to the top of the bag. At first I was disappointed because touch wouldn't work at all. I decided to flip the sheet, not expecting any change. On the other side it worked perfectly. The bag is well made and has a ton of compartments that use zippers. I believe it's supposed to be water resistant, and it has a lifetime limited warranty. Definitely rate this bag with 5+ stars. PS: The pics are lackluster due to the poor lighting in our parking stall.

Excellent tank bag for Honda NT1100
I have been very impressed with this little tank bag. It seems to be of good quality, has lots of pockets and compartments for which I have found great uses. The magnets are plenty strong to hold my bag on the tank of my Honda NT1100 with no worries that it might move during a ride. I don't use any tethers as the magnets hold very well by themselves. It appears that it would offer some protection from water, at least in a brief rain shower. The handle makes it convient for moving from the bike to other locations. Great purchase and highly recommended.

High quality bag!!
I put this bag on a 2008 Suzuki V-Strom 1000 which has an oddly shaped tank with more plastic on the side than metal, so I ordered the strapped version instead of magnetic. Straps, buckles and attachment points are strong. Once strapped in, the bag doesn't move. Bottom of the bag has a rubber feel to it which also helps it stay put on the tank. Doesn't budge even with the bike fully leaned over. Have had it at triple digit speeds and off-road. Never moves. For a small bag, it has a number of well thought out pouches. Zippers are high quality and operate smoothly. Main compartment is plenty big enough for a couple small water bottles, couple smart phones, wallet, sunglasses, keys, etc. The bag also comes with a clear, touch sensitive pouch that secures to the top of the bag to hold your smart phone, iPad or tablet. When not in use, it tucks away in one of the many pouches the bag has. Nice touch. The bag is just what I was looking for to hold all the items I use frequently while out and about in the bike. No need to dig around in the top box or panniers. It's all right there in the tank bag. Very high quality bag that's priced right. Also made in the USA!

Great little tank bag, very high quality
This bag fits perfectly on my girlfriend's Honda CBR 500. She didn't want a huge tank bag, since the bike isn't that big. She uses it to carry an extra visor for her helmet (clear one when it get's dark). It will also hold a quart water bottle and some other odds and ends like a phone charger, extra gloves and a garage door opener. The magnets are strong and will hold the bag securely to the tank at triple digit speeds, (not too crazy...around 100 mph the bag stays put.) The bungee cords on the top are great too to carry random odds and ends, like if you just pick up something at the store on your way home. The only minor gripe I have with the bag is a lot of tank bags come with a waterproof over bag, this one does not. If it starts to rain we usually carry some extra zip locks to keep important things dry like our cell phone. We are certain that we will get many years of use out of this high quality bag. There are a lot of choices in tanks bags out there, but we like the fact that this one is made in the USA and is the highest quality construction. Just make sure your bike has a metal tank if you buy this one. Lots of sport bikes have fiberglass or plastic tanks to save weight, the bag will not stick!

Works great with my '83 Seca
Bought this bag to use on my '83 Yamaha XJ750 Seca. Nice little bag. The magnets hold well, and I don't feel the need to use any additional straps to keep it secure. Of course, being magnetic mount, it does require a steel tank to be effective. I don't recommend it at all if you have a plastic tank. Big enough to hold cameras, GPS and other expensive gadgets that I don't want to leave on the bike when I walk away from it. I wouldn't have minded if it was slightly larger, but it is what it is. It was big enough for everything I needed, just not a lot of extra for expansion. I like that it comes with a removable strap to allow carrying it over your shoulder. I just grab it off the bike, snap on the strap, and go. However, that is also where my one complaint comes in: They made the strap waaaay too long. At its longest adjustment it would probably hang below my knees. At its shortest, it's still to my thigh. I had to do some creative looping of the strap to get it to be short enough to be comfortable. Maybe if you are 7' tall it would be good. I could probably cut it down and rethread it to make it shorter, but I haven't had the ambition yet. I haven't had it in the rain yet, so I can't speak to how waterproof it is. Overall, I am happy and expect it to last a long time.

Great compact magnetic tank bag includes a map pouch
This is a very good compact magnetic tank bag that won't get in your way, ideal for short rides or for sportbikes where a larger tank bag would block your view of your instruments. The retention magnets are strong and grip any metal tank firmly (obviously, you don't want to try using this on a bike with a plastic tank). It has an abundance of interior and exterior pockets for keeping your stuff organized, a handle for carrying it, and a shock-cord web on the top for securing whatever miscellaneous objects you may want to stuff in and have fast access to (a water bottle perhaps). It's well padded and should do a good job of protecting possessions such as a camera. Although the listing doesn't mention the fact, it also comes with a large clear map pocket that can be secured on top with elastic loops, though most riders these days are probably more likely to be using a GPS unit on a RAM mount. Granted, this is far from the largest tank bag out there. But the truth is unless you're long-distance touring, you don't really want to tote the kitchen sink around on front of you on the tank. This bag is big enough to hold all the items you need conveniently to hand for everyday riding. It gets the job done, and doesn't make you fuss with straps and buckles every time you get on or off the bike. (There is a quick-release front strap included that's intended to loop around your steering head, but honestly, you probably won't ever need to use it, and if you DO want to use it, you'll probably want to figure out something better than looping it around the steering head.) Two Technical Thug thumbs up.
