Heavy Duty-Heavy Weight Grates
These are beautiful grill grates. You can't get a feel from the photos for how heavy weight the stainless round bar construction is until you pick up the box they come in and take one out. I was saying to myself..."WOW....NICE!" I have a 1300 lb. 20x48 smoker with rusting expanded metal grates. These 19 1/4" wide by 10 3/8" grates fit perfectly across front to back and I can use as many as I need in the 48" long smoker. So much nicer than the old traditional expanded metal which rusts and is hard to clean. Should have bought these a long time ago!

Have been holding up for a very long time.
These are EXCELLENT replacements for the old grates. I've never had grates hold up so well and clean so easily. They fit perfectly, look great and are well made with a thick diameter stainless steel round stock.

Best Grates, Best Value, Wished it had tighter grid spacing. 0
I have an old Australian Cook On four burner gas grill, no original parts available, whose grates, burners, and drip pan had rusted out. Originally it had 4 thick heavy wide-bar cast-iron grates. I could not match those up so instead I looked for a set of 3 grates that would fit the overall size of my grill, were cast iron, and were as thick and heavy as my originals. I found they don't exist. So when looking at alternate grates after finding sets that fit the overall size, I compared the material, weight, and the grid bar spacing and thickness. Various grates look the same in the pictures, but for a given width the spacing of the bars/grids can be different (10-12 bars across for the same width). It doesn't matter much for chicken or steak, but for home made hamburgers (not frozen) and hotdogs, having wider grid spacing can cause the hamburger or hotdog to fall through or get stuck between the grids. The weight of different brand grates of the same size can vary by a couple of pounds per grate. I figured the heaviest grates would have the thickest grid bars, have the best heat retention, and last the longest. These were the heaviest cast iron grates with the tightest grid bar spacing, and were at the lower end of the range of prices ($43 to 65). They arrived promptly, we're not damaged, looked great, and had a solid well-built feel to them. I seasoned them twice with vegetable oil before using. BBQ chicken turned out great. Grid bar spacing was great for hot dogs, none fell through the grates. but I cooked some homemade hamburgers whose patties were on the soft side because they were so juicy. When I put them on the grates they sunk into the grates making it impossible to flip them without them falling apart. So I wish the grates had a tighter grid bar spacing or thicker/wider bars (to better distribute the weight of the hamburger patty). But I'm sure the next time if I heat the grates up a lot hotter before I put the hamburgers on it will sear them before they have a chance to sink into the grill. I also noticed the new grate bars are triangularly shaped with the flat part on the bottom. So I might also try flipping the grate's upside down so the wider apart is on top. Or I could make dried out boring hamburger patties. I'm very happy with this purchase after spending days looking at every grate set on Amazon that fit my grill. I included some pics to show what I'm talking about. Two of them show one of my original old rusted grates side by side with a new grate. Note, I replaced my original 4 grates with a set of 3 grades that were the same overall size. One of my four grates weighed the same as one of the three new grates. Even old and rusted, you can see my old grates are thicker/wider than the new one. Spacing between the grid bars is 10 mm for my original worn out grates and 13mm for the new one. The new grates were the best I could find so watch out for all the others! Some others are so light and thin I doubt they would last more than a couple years.

Excellent Replacement
My original stainless steel grates in my grill were completely burnt up and falling apart. They were blistering and rusting. This cast iron one looks and feels very sturdy and with proper seasoning and care I don’t see it not lasting as long as most of my cast iron pans.

Hey, these work great
I have a 15 year old big gas bbq. Now I live in the Colorado Rockies and leave my grill covered but outside during the winter. These replacement grills are of original quality, fit well and work great. Tell me what more should I expect?
