AWESOME, DURABLE, SUPER ACCURATE WATCH
This was purchased to replace a solar atomic Casio G-Shock I wore 24/7 for 15+ years that still works with the original battery! >> These are awesome watches because they’re super-accurate, thanks to the atomic signal timekeeping, and you don’t need to replace the batteries (solar charging). >> Out of the box it was set to the exact second and date. You never have to touch the time, as it’s synchronized to the atomic radio time signal. It only needs to be set on/off for daylight savings time. >> This is a solid looking watch, but it’s thin enough to fit under my button sleeve work shirts. It’s easy to read and has a fairly clean face, without the tiny, hard to read info-function circles of my last G shock. G-Shocks are perfect for active people who want to wear one watch and never take it off during work, sleep, showering, swimming, or play. G-Shocks take a beating and just keep performing. I never wear anything else.

Great watch!
Great watch! Simple design, solar-powered, and reliable. Only has one con: the automatic time adjustment works only when you wear it; if it’s off your wrist, it doesn’t adjust. Everything else is perfect — comfortable, stylish, and easy to use. Good for value of money, colors i like it, very light to wear, overall i am giving 5 star, i am so satisfied of quality.

3 years of near daily use
Outstanding product. I'm 3 years in. It's the best watch for me. I wanted something that would just tell me the accurate time and live forever. The solar power is amazing, the battery takes such little energy to operate that in my experience you don't really need to purposely let it charge. It just does it on its own over time provided you spend at least some time in the sun. The radio time calibration works well, although you do need to place it in a spot where the radio waves won't get blocked. I occasionally place it on my thick desk and it doesn't always calibrate when I do that. But that's no big deal. There's minimal time drift with this watch, as long as your watch catches the radio signal at least once every couple weeks your time will stay very accurate. This is exactly what I was looking for: no frills, just a durable, accurate, lasts-pretty-much-forever kind of watch. Very satisfied 3 years in, it still looks pretty much the same as when I bought it.

Versatile watch, perfect for everyday use
The GWM5610 has become my everyday watch since I bought it back in April. It might not be the most stylish watch I own—though its retro '80s styling makes its own statement—but it's certainly the most versatile, and it's the watch that's on my wrist most of the time. The solar power and atomic synching is why I bought the watch, and for me, these two features make this watch more than worth the price of admission. The solar feature works as advertised. The power indicator was at "M" / Medium when the watch was delivered, but bumped up to "H" / High within a couple days, and has stayed there ever since. Granted, the battery won't last forever—maybe 10 to 15 years—but I'll worry about that around 2030. The atomic sync took a little trial-and-error; being on the east coast, I'm a long way away from the transmitter in Fort Collins. After a few days, I discovered that as long as the 12:00 position on the dial was pointed westward—the direction of the transmitter from my current location—the watch will "catch the wave" every night. On a trip out west, closer to the transmitter, the watch was much less particular about orientation—it even synced from a moving train during an overnight ride. I couldn't get it to sync from a cabin on a cruise ship, though—must be the thick metal hull. I always want my watch to be as accurate as possible, and the syncing accomplishes this. It's perfectly synced with my computer, my phone, the clocks in train stations and airports. On the cruise when it couldn't sync, it didn't drift more than a second off the actual time, so it looks like the accuracy is pretty good even without the sync. I've swam with the watch, snorkeled with it, showered with it, dropped it. It doesn't care. It's a G-Shock. The screen is easy to read. The backlight is nice and bright, though it only lasts for a second or two before it shuts off—shorter than some backlights on non-solar watches. The Auto El works for me, but isn't perfect—occasionally it doesn't go on when you flick your wrist, and occasionally it does go on when you don't need it to—so I generally leave it shut off, unless there's a reason why I need it to light up without physically pressing the button. As for other features, the World Time is useful for travel—whether it's you in another time zone, or someone you care about. The alarm is not super loud, and it only lasts for 10 seconds—but its loud enough to wake me up, and the snooze feature can make it sound again, just in case you don't hear it the first time it goes off. I use it when travelling. Stopwatch is nice to have; I don't use it that much. The countdown timer I use a lot. The watch is comfortable to wear. It's not overly bulky like some of the G-Shocks can be. I personally wouldn't want a bigger watch than this one. I like how it looks—it has a classic design. Not that I would wear it with a suit, but I don't have to wear one most of the time. In short, this watch does everything I need it to do. Thanks to the syncing feature, it keeps perfect time, and thanks to the solar feature and rugged construction, I can expect it to keep doing so. A lot of folks use smartwatches these days. Maybe I will upgrade to one someday myself. For now, though, many smartwatches lack an always-on display, or lack the rugged construction / water-resistance, or have to be charged daily, or require an Internet connection to maintain the correct time. Personally, I'll hold off on a smartwatch until they're a little more like my G-Shock. EDIT - 27 May 2022: I've had this watch for over 5 years now, and it has seen me through countless days at the office, plenty of travel, birth of a child, and a global pandemic. It still looks almost new. It catches radio signal almost every night—it will miss every so often in the winter months, but even then most nights it gets it. During the summer, the RCVD indicator is reliably lit up every day. I traveled with the 5610 recently to a place where it couldn't catch signal, so it didn't sync for a week. It drifted about +3.5 seconds compared to the atomic clock, which isn't bad at all. Note that if you order now, you'll get the GW-M5610-U as opposed to the GW-M5610 model (which is what I have). The newer "U" model has a LED backlight, which doesn't look quite as cool, but still works fine and uses less power. It also has the ability to display the date in DD.MM format, as opposed to MM.DD, and shows the time in Stopwatch and Countdown modes. There are a few extra timezones, and some other features (like swapping the World Time timezone and your home city time). I don't think it's worth the upgrade for me, but if you're buying new, you'll get these additional features, which I think makes the watch even more of a compelling buy than it already was.

Reliable watch that gets the job done.
I've had mine for over three years now. It just works. I don't have a problem with buying inexpensive watches, but when the time comes to change the battery, they usually break on me. I decided enough was enough and I wanted one that would be solar and atomic powered, so I wouldn't have to worry about batteries or time drifting. This is perfect for my needs. It's tough, water resistant, and solar and atomic powered. I don't need anything else. I don't want a smart watch; one more thing to baby and charge frequently. I also occasionally go to places where smart watches aren't allowed, so that would be a hassle. The price is exceedingly reasonable and has dropped a bit since I bought mine. If you just want a dependable watch that gives you the necessities and doesn't break the bank, this is it.

First of all the design, fit and finish of the watch is perfect. The dimensions are perfect and it is comfortable and light enough to never be tiring to wear. As soon as you take a close look at the watch you will see what a high quality piece this is. That's just the start, the atomic time keeping feature is just incredible. Always accurate to the absolute second. 5 world time settings, calander, automatic daylight savings function, alarm, stop watch, timer and more super useful functions. Don't hesitate to pull the trigger on this watch, it's truly the last and only watch you will ever need as well as simply a great addition to even the most high end watch collection full of high end automatics and tourbillons. I have many casios and g shocks, including the famous casio-oak ga-2100 which was my favorite watch until now this watch takes the cake. Lastly I did not buy brand new as the price as increased significantly in the last 2 months so I bought from the warehouse deals at a much cheaper price and it was still in perfect condition just an open package. So don't be afraid to order from those options since you can always return it if it's not in acceptable condition. In final it's true what everyone says these watches are truly God tier from the cheap 39.99 casios to the gorgeous casio-oak and g shock squares plus the bigger and bulkier g shocks. 5 stars. 10/10. I hope this review helps makes some people's decision to purchase much easier.

I really like the classic look. Extremely comfortable on the wrist and not ridiculously big looking. Very easy to read time and date. Very tough robust watch as well. I went for this solar version so I don't need to worry about battery replacement followed by expensive pressure testing.

I had the basic DW5600 REC-9 (yellow) but l somehow felt it lacked features like the solar charging or multiple world time capabilities. Hence after some research got this beast. Love the size, features and even quality. For instance the band is so much softer and premium feeling than the regular DW5600 series. However I missed the pop colour of my DW series and hence got some red bands which complement the red highlight in the display. One thing I would like to highlight that this is the updated GW-M5610U with the new 3495 module and white LED. I got this thinking it was the older module as I love the old Green EL backlight, however it is what it is and makes my DW still makes its case for a spot in my collection. Overall it’s a great buy and a must have G-Shock square for any watch enthusiasts or G-Shock collector.
