Great blower for fireplaces with side vents!
So here is the main difference between this blower and traditional blowers. Our fireplace is two sided, which means the venting is on either side, unlike traditional fireplaces with the vent is along the back. This specific blower allows you to place (spread) the two blowers on either side. Installation was a breeze, except for one important modification I had to do to get the blower working. With this and most all other blowers, the thermostat sensor switch (the thingie that senses the heat and turns the fan on and off automatically) is attached to a magnet which is designed to stick to the frame of the fireplace (usually the bottom). In my case the bottom frame was completely insulated and would not have gotten hot to allow the thermostat to work. So I ended up lengthening the wire (splices an extension) to the thermostat to allow me to clip the magnet to the top frame of the fireplace where it would get hot. If you operate your fireplace just long enough to feel where it is warm, you can determine of you need to carry out this modification. The fans work perfectly, are quiet and the fan speed knob provide a good range of speed for the fans. The overall time of installation (with the mod) was maybe under 2 hours. Hope you find this review helpful.

Easy to install
Works well to increase room temperature quickly. Makes some noise, but is easely remedied by adjusting the fan speed to a tolerable level. Easy to install. Tip: Make sure the connectors are secure metal-to-metal. It is too easy to push the tab connector to lodge between the metal prong and its plastic insulator.

Good kit, easy to install
This is a good kit if you are like me and have a smaller gas fireplace that doesn't already have a blower installed in it. It was pretty easy to install for me, as I already have an understanding of electric wiring. The unit pushes the warm air pretty well, not as well as I had imagined when purchasing it, but I think it does a good job for the money. That being said, a person could probably buy a space-heater which would move warm air further and faster for about the same amount of money -- just something to consider prior to purchasing. I like this unit since it's the least expensive kit I could find on Amazon at the time of this review, and adds to my existing gas fireplaces' efficiency which means I'm not going to have to burn the fire as long to warm up the living room.I installed this unit on a Heatilator GNDC30 (30" gas fireplace), it's the right size for my unit. Another consideration is you need to have an installed electrical outlet. Hopefully your unit already has it installed, mine had the wiring pre-run, but I had to install the outlet box which made my install a lot more difficult, but that's not reflected in my review as it's not pertinent to this unit.I'll go over the PROS and CONS for quick review:PROS:+ Pretty easy to install, all of the wires with the exception of one (I'll mention that later) came with quick connectors for easy install.+ Lengthy cables/wires for possible long-runs.+ Velcro was all pre attached to the unit, just remove the tape on the backsides of the velcro and stick the unit in place.+ Comes with a mounting plate for the fan adjustment knob (nice touch, though I didn't use it).+ Simple instructions, though I could see the need for more comprehensive ones for those which don't already understand wiring.+ Everything works as expected.CONS:- The ground wire didn't come with any kind of quick connect, further it didn't come with a screw or bolt to attach it to the motor shroud. It confused me momentarily where it was even supposed to attach. If you look on the sides of the unit there are ground symbols near raised connection points, but the hole is so small I decided to connect the ground to the underside of one of the shroud mounting holes with a bolt and nut. That was easier for me than trying to find a screw small enough to fit the small grounding hole and does the same job.Overall:If you already have an installed gas fireplace that this unit fits than I think it's a good buy, you're probably a home-owner anyway and little touches can add to the value of your home. It's easy to install with the exception of working in such a tight area, but that's to be expected. I would recommend this for home owners that already have the small gas fireplace, the only thing I would change with the unit is for it to come with a ground wire connector to the motor shroud for ease of installation.Overall: Recommended!

Don't expect a tornado but this thing works.
Great product that increases the efficiency of your fireplace. Keep in mind that this is not meant to create gail force winds. It simply moves the hot air into the room and out of the fireplace insert. My wife and I noticed that before we installed this it took about 1 hour to notice an appreciable difference in the room with the gas fireplace on. Now it takes about 30 minutes. Money well spent.

Not as powerful as OEM
Airflow is not as strong as original Heatilator FK21 blower. Doesn't do a good job of pushing air past fireplace, and I would say it is half as strong as original. The pros: quieter because it's weaker.Good value, less than half price of original.Really easy to install.Comes with hardware.I would spend extra and get the original. Unless you want something cheaper and quieter.

Small but works
Previous house had a fan installed and was surprised my current house didn't have one. I measured the available space prior to purchase and purchased this one, being the largest that would fit. Easy enough to install after removing the gas line.Makes a difference. With no fan the fireplace was just for show. No heat being transferred to the room. Now you can physically tell that the room is warmer when the fireplace is on.Full blast is loud. We found a sweet spot that is not so loud but kicks out enough heat to make it worth while.
