BRIGHTLINES Cross Bars Roof Racks Luggage Rack Replacement for 2013-2018 Toyota Rav4

I may come back and edit this review, depending on what kind of response I get from the seller. One of the plastic latches that is used to secure the cross bar to the rail broke off when I tried to push it down. The plastic should be stronger than me, but it wasn't. It looks like a reasonably good product otherwise, but the plastic latches are not well designed. I have contacted the seller and asked for a replacement. I was hoping to use it this weekend to pick up a new kayak and take it out on the lake. Now it looks like my weekend plans may be changed :(Edit: I sent a message to the seller the next day reporting that the one of the latches had broken. They immediately shipped out a replacement latch and I had it within two days. The new latch installed easily into the cross bar (although it would have been nice if they had also included a new T-bolt so I didn't have to extract the one from the damaged part). But all in all, I was satisfied with the customer service, so I'm bumping the rating to 4 stars.If you do buy this product, take care not to force the latches shut. If there's too much resistance, back the latch off one turn and try again and until it latches without applying too much pressure.

Catastrophic failure used for one summer and then we put it back on after storing for a winter and the it failed and we had to go get the boats off the shoulder of the road and start them back down without the front rail because it broke (as pictured). The boats stayed strapped into the j hooks that were mounted to the rails. The rail was clearly the issue as it was made from composite material a d not solid metal.

These may not be the name brand cross bars or anything and they seem really cheap and flimsy, but they've held up and are surprisingly strong, durable, and easy to install. The only issue I had with installing was my own fault when I tried to snap one of the clips down when it was too tight and it just snapped. Just don't force the clips. Unfortunately, I couldn't find any replacement parts anywhere online, so I got some Loctite plastic epoxy (https://www.amazon.com/Loctite-Plastic-0-85-Fluid-Syringe-1363118/dp/B0044FBB8C) and glued the handle back on. I figured it wouldn't hold at all but I think it's stronger now than it was before. After I installed the bars, I put a 7 ft. Yakima Rocket Box on top and trailered my car 1,000 miles on I-80 and had 0 issues.

Fir the most part, this works well. But I will say the bars have a bit of play, causing some noise when hauling certain things. 4 stars, but should have invested in better quality.

I just received these in the mail - I have yet to install them on my car (I will post update shortly).As a note... the "key" isn't really a key. It's this tiny black tube shaped "key" that you place on top of the "lock" and turn to lock/unlock. My point being... you don't really need this plastic tube to unlock the rack. ANYONE CAN USE THEIR FINGERS TO UNLOCK THESE CROSS BARS.. IT'S NOT A REAL KEY.Aside from that, the design looks sleek and seems pretty durable. I am going camping this weekend and I'll be bringing my kayaks so it'll be a nice test run for these cross bars -- keep you posted.

Overall these have worked fairly well but one of the latches broke during installation leaving one of the crossbars loose on one side. I contacted the manufacturer who promised to send a replacement part but never did. That being said with the carrier in place everything stays put and it has survived several 13 hour family trips.

I got this in 2019 and it has been great. Cost effective and easy to use. I just recently ran into a problem with a broken closure piece. ASG Autosports customer service has been outstanding! Responsive and accommodating-my replacement piece is shipping today! Great service for a great product!!!! Highly recommend.

I have the Yakima Skybox mounted onto these racks and they hold up very well on my Rav4! Up to 80mpb or more! However first set broken due to some minor off roading. The levers used to tight and clamp the cross bars to the rack managed to pop and broke itself. But the replacement process was fast and simple.
