Q: Does this product have any carrageenan? What exactly is the seaweed thickener?

No, the seaweed used in our product is not carrageenan. As we know, there are health concerns with carrageenan and that is why we would never use it or anything containing it in our products. It is safe to use, even iodine has been removed, which makes it safe for people with iodine sensitivities.

Q: Is it ok as a facial moisturizer?

I have sensitive, oily skin prone to acne. I've been using this aloe gel mixed about 50/50 with CeraVe's moisturizing lotion (after Crabtree & Evelyn Luminous Cleansing Balm, Thayer's toner, and either a vitamin C/hyaluronic acid serum or a niacinamide serum), and my skin is happier than it's ever been in my entire life.

Q: Can this be mixed with alcohol for hand sanitizer?

For making hand sanitizer, I have mixed this with 99% isopropyl alcohol, and with 95% and 75% ethanol. I used whisks, and most recently added the EtOH slowly in a food processor (be careful-- the ethanol is flammable). I have been unable to prevent separation of the aloe from the alcohol, as it is a fine suspension-- probably organic plant matter, cellulose, etc. that will not dissolve no matter what you do. Shaking it up makes a very fine suspension and it feels just fine on the hands used this way. I have also filtered the mixture through paper towels, to get a clear hand sanitizer, which should still have the same alcohol concentration as desired (60% or probably better is 70% EtOH). I also used some glycerine as well.

Q: Is it watery or does it have a thick consistency?

It is not watery. It has a good consistency. It goes on smoothly n dries quickly. I'm very pleased with my purchase.
