It's USB-C for your 20 year old iPod
I have an iPod I got as a gift from a good friend 20 years ago. It is very dear to me and has travelled the globe in my backpack and the console of my cars. The old cable I have was falling apart and dying so I started looking for a new one. If USB-C is available, why wouldn't I try that? There's not a lot more to say beyond, it plugged into my old iPod just fine and when attached to the computer it showed up exactly as I'd expect. The cable itself feels to honestly be a bit better quality than the cheap plastic ones that Apple shipped that were prone to breakage. The length of 2m is a bit on the long side for my uses but that's not a big deal. The iPod itself is just old USB 2.0 standard and no cable is going to make bits flow through the cable faster. It is a product of its time and you'll just have to wait.

Works perfectly with iPod Classic, but don’t expect “fast charging” magic
I bought this specifically to use with an iPod Classic and tested it with a modern USB-C power brick and Mac. It worked exactly like a standard 30-pin cable should. My Mac recognized the iPod immediately with no errors, and syncing worked without issue. Charging performance was normal for a 30-pin device. Using a USB-C adapter, I measured about 2.26 watts going to the iPod Classic. That’s typical behavior for older Apple hardware. The “fast charging” claim doesn’t really mean much here, since most 30-pin devices don’t support modern fast charging standards anyway. The connector fits snugly, though it doesn’t have the old locking tabs some original Apple cables had. Not a big deal, as many 30-pin cables didn’t include those. The braided cable feels average - not overly stiff, not ultra-soft. Some braided cables feel cheap or scratchy, but this one is fine. Length is close to 3 ft, maybe just slightly shy. If you’re trying to keep an old iPod Classic alive while using modern USB-C chargers, this does exactly what you need it to do.
