Product and Furniture Design (The Manufacturing Guides) Review: great book, but meant for those looking for mass production mfg procedures - like my title suggests, this book is very informative for those who do not know how the various processes used in current product & furniture manufacturing...which is GOOD, yes, but I thought the book might contain some information on producing low-number runs or prototypes...but of course, that is my fault I suppose. Some of the CNC techniques towards the end of the book can be applied to low # runs though. If you are current and working in the field, this book will be a redundancy as you will most likely be familiar with most if not all of the processes, but can still serve a useful place on your bookshelf. The book is well laid out, informative while remaining concise...good use of pictures too. Buy this book: a) if you are new to the field and/or want a good guidebook to current manufacturing techniques or b) if you are well versed, you can use this information to present to clients so they have a better understanding of costs vs. impacts of the different techniques involved hope this helps. Review: Really like this series - Really like this series. Well worth the investment. Refer too them often and just enjoy looking thru them. Nicely done.

Only if you don't have the "Manufacturing Processes for Design Professionals"
Since I already have "Manufacturing Processes for Design Professionals", this book doesn't go much further. If you don't want to spend so much money with the big one, buy the little one. It's fine.

Book is really nice and useful. A lot of things which you can find for production. May be even the best book about product and furniture design.

Not a very thourough guide . Just think of this as a reference for various processes. You will have to look at other resources if you want to know indepth about a specific process . Not worth the money .

a great reference guide - its the smaller brother of the larger manufacturing processes book but still a useful smaller guide. should be on any designers shelf if you ask me
