Flawless and delicious!!!
We have owned two of these and have enjoyed having delicious coffee from freshly-ground, excellent beans (Lavazza Top Choice, sometimes espresso version but usually filtro), programmed the night before. Heavenly coffee to wake up to. Both of our Black & Decker Mill & Brew coffee makers have performed flawlessly. To the reviewer who can't get her filter out: use the swing-up handle on it, and it comes right out. We had the 1st over six years, and I bought a second simply bc I didn't know how to properly clean the fine-meshed filter and it accumulated some hard debris. I scraped it out with a sharp knife! The new one, which I've easily kept clean for almost 3 years now, I just spray out with the kitchen spray hose, first inside, then from the outside along each section (sides and bottom). Takes only a minute. I also run it through the dishwasher every month or two and that's all it takes. I also give a quick rinse to the funnel that holds the filter. Easy to use, SUPERB coffee that stays hot and somehow doesn't get bitter nearly as quickly as with other coffee makers and coffee brands. Great features: select how long to grind, how strong to make, when to start brewing (immediately, or program), etc. Love it and will likely buy another just to stash in the basement to have when this one eventually goes. As grinders go, it isn't very loud, though if our bedroom door is open, we do hear it go off in the morning...this has become a very happy sound association. After over eight years, we still get excited about getting up for a cup of Lavazza Top Class, freshly ground and brewed in an EXCELLENT coffee maker. Lower maintenance than the pricey super-automatics, way more affordable, easy cleaning, and--best of all--amazing coffee. Highly recommend.

Best coffee maker!
I love it! It’s the best coffee maker I’ve ever used! I’ve had many, from expensive to inexpensive, but this one has it all over them! It’s fast, hot, easy to use & program, plus the screen hasn’t fogged up either! The convenience of dual functionality of whole bean or ground is AWESOME!

Still the best-kept secret drip maker out there, but….
This might be my 5th or 6th one of these; I’ve owned them since before Black and Decker purchased the original maker (Breville?). Yes, it’s a blade grinder vs burr for us coffee snobs. However, waking up to freshly-ground hot coffee is still a joy in this life. Plus when I do get snobby or it’s a special coffee I use my separate burr-grinder and put the grinds in the basket that way, and obviously it works just fine with pre-ground coffee. Why have I been through so many? Well, first of all we’re talking about over a period of maybe 20 years. At least 1 replacement was a broken carafe and it was easier and almost cheaper at the time to just buy a new machine. Another time I thought my blades were getting dull, but on my new machine they weren’t much sharper (they’re really not sharp at all). And while I’m pretty good about cleaning my machine regularly using either vinegar or commercial products, sometimes it just doesn’t work as well as it used to and it’s time for a new one.Really easy to clean overall, and I like a LOT of variation in my coffee (generally have around a half-dozen in vacuum cans at any given time), so that’s why I prefer this style over models that take like a full pound for the storage bin. If you only use one type of whole bean then maybe that is a better product for you but of course this one would still work and is MUCH cheaper than those styles.THE 1-STAR DING PROBLEM: After all these (5-star) models that have gone through my hands, I re-upped with another new system last month (the old one was about 7 years old and no amount of cleaning was bettering the drip). I noticed in the reviews some people were mentioning a clicking noise from the hot plate; something I had never experienced in the past. And OMG—sure enough, on my 1st brew with the new machine the hot plate cycled on and the amount of clicks and pops were like popcorn being made, lasting about 15 seconds every minute or so and loud! It was SO annoying! Really sounded like the glass carafe was cracking every time. After a week it only seemed to actually worsen, so I exchanged it. Next one……exact same thing. Exchanged it again….and this one still pops and crackles a little bit but MUCH more quietly and not nearly as numerous (like, maybe 2 or 3 light pops when the plate cycles). So, something changed in their internal works and I guess it’s hit or miss at the moment. All that said and on the plus side, the hot plate with these 3 new models is definitely hotter than any of the ones I’ve owned in the past. I never got into the thermal carafe thing and also usually would microwave my mug for about 45 seconds to warm it up further—I don’t really need to do that anymore because it’s definitely keeping the coffee hotter. I hope the clicks and pops might settle down over time as the metal, glass and plastic “wear in”; and if it does I’ll upgrade the review.TLDR—amazing coffeemaker, particularly for the cost but some new manufacturing has made it noisy. Screw ‘em! Keep exchanging it until you get a quieter one, give B&D your feedback, and hopefully they’ll fix the issue. Enjoy!!

Not perfect but much better than Cuisinart
Grind and brew works as advertised. Makes great coffee. We had a Cuisinart grind and brew before. It was loud and a major league hassle to clean This one is super. It works great. It's quiet - not an alarm clock like the Cuisinart. It's easy to clean. Easy rinse out. The cuisinart requires digging into a curved plastic part that gets caked with ground coffee. My complaints with this one are 1) that it only stays warm for 2 hours. No adjustment beyond that, and 2) no adjustment for the holding temperature. Plus 3) rather than giving you a countdown to how much time is left for the heater to stay on, it counts up. In other words, if the heater timer shows 100, you only have 20 minutes left. 4) The lid is attached permanently to the carafe so loading it in the dishwasher is awkward. 5) The big silver Black and Decker plaque on the front is unsightly, but you get used to it. I'd buy it again.

Perfection bean grinder and coffee brew machine
Easy to use, easy to brew, easy to grind beans or use ground coffee, and most importantly the bean grinder is built into the filter so all done one simple clean up! Best option over all others 1000%!Tell that to Cuisinart who are uncaring to the consumer thoughts of washing eight compartments after you've had your coffee. They don't care! I wrote them and stated the design flaws - crickets!I had an issue with my new B&D unit after I returned the Cuisinart unit. The difference in their CS was amazingly wonderful and the have a phone number with live reps! It ended up I had assembled the unit not tight enough at first, it works great with a lot less effort on cleanup!
