I Used to Never Drink Water
Up through the age of 44 I'd say I rarely drank water. Juice, sodas, milk, flavored water, but hardly ever plain water. I'm unsure what changed, but now I refill my cup 3 - 5 times per day. I bought a 24 oz Tervis cup and customized it with my pups, but having to constantly refill it was getting annoying so there I went on my Amazon search. I started with 36 oz thinking that was the largest cup I could find. And I was pretty much right.I hemmed and hawed and grumbled before finally settling on this small jug. I didn't want anything with a straw or a sippy cup type mouth. Just a normal Big cup. Just didn't make sense to spend $12 or more on a cup that was only 50% bigger and that I may not refill because it's a hassle because the dogs will whine while I'm downstairs, but they've already been outside and I don't want to take them again because then it's going to be 30 minutes before I get back to working and another 15 before I'm focused so there's 45 minutes blown. Just a glimpse into my thought process, folks. So I got this thing today. Rinsed it with warm soapy water, even though it appeared pretty darn clean. The plastic is malleable but not bendy so it holds its shape and is likely to stay together if I drop it instead of breaking like stiffer plastics do. I Thought I was going to use it without the lid, because that is an option, but then I discovered the cap springs open and stays open. It doesn't smack down or sit on my nose while I'm drinking. Okay, so far so good. The spout is a fair size so it's not like a straw, it actually pours so it's more like a cup.The lid does have a plastic piece that locks the button down so you can't accidentally flip it open while walking or whatever other impressive thing may cause it to pop the lid. I tried several ways to screw on the lid so it would convert to a left-handed drinking vessel, but I am sad to report, Southpaws, the lid is going to be under your chin and the spout angled incorrectly, if you opt to hold the handle with your left hand. Unless you do some kind of awkward reverse pour. I don't know - maybe lefties are accustomed to contorting, will have to ask my stepdaughter.I would advise against putting flavored anything in this because that handle is going to be quite difficult to clean, even with bendy brushes and the wide mouth. Maybe if one was able to push a cloth or thick paper towel down the handle it could get clean but I'm already looking at it wondering how I'm going to get the water slime out of it. Probably hot water. Will report back if I damage it by using super hot water.All-in-all I'm less disappointed with not having a real cup and I'm pleased that I'm not likely to spill this. I'm not prone to those accidents, but I have a friend who is so now I'm protected.

This thing is amazing!
I have been using this for a month now and let me tell you it is an amazing bottle of the carry, sometimes I follow the recommended times to drink it and other times I just use it when I'm going to the gym or when I'm working out. I needed a drink model because I knew it was important to consume water while working out and after working out so I decided to buy a gallon jug as I was suggested to. At first sent a little bit skeptical because there were some comments saying various things, but for me as of right now a month in it has been working great. I use it three times and clean it every fourth time. Then I let it rest for a day and then use it over again three times, thus completing the process over and over again. I will change this if things do happen, but it is a good fit gallon shug that is easy to hold and it performs well and it keeps water in very good. Since there's no straw, I don't have to worry about cleaning anything which makes it better, but the filter while not really necessary in my eyes does add a little bit of security. All in all I am happy and pleased with this product

Love this but be aware: cap mold
I’ve had this for two years now (and the price increase—wow! I paid $12.99)Anyway, the white plastic cap that covers the hole you drink from gathers mold. And the *only way* to get rid of it is soaking overnight in bleach. For a long time I thought the very tiny black spot was a stain. No amount of scrubbing cleaned it offHowever, FYI, for the first time I had to fill the bottle with filtered tap water. After a day, I noticed there was a huge ring of black. That gives you an indication of how much bacteria is in filtered tap water! The spot had remained very small when I was using bottled water.
