Q: can you touch it with your hand or fingers/

As the directions are in Japanese, I am not sure if there is a warning notice about getting the paste on the skin. But I have used my fingers with the paste and am still standing. It does contain a mild insecticide and mild anti-fungal. So, I am afraid my answer is born out of experience and not scientific fact. I have only one bonsai tree, so I do not use a large amount of the paste regularly.

Q: Is there any expiration date on the packaging or tube?

No expiration date unless it is in Japanese. I have used this same pruning compound for years. I have never known is to ‘go bad’. I use the same tube for years at a time. As long as you cap it after using it, one tube should last you for years if you are using it on Bonsai trees. It doesn’t spoil.

Q: Can this be used on all types of trees? I used it on a crape myrtle.

i only used it for my bonsai so far, but have had very good results. i used it on a korean dwarf lilac and it worked great.

Q: Can you use this on adult bamboo with success?

This product works very well on trees without turning the scar black. I do not know how you would use it on bamboo. I believe an individual stalk grows at its top so cutting it would stop its growth, the base rhizone would continue to grow.
