This product works if you follow the direction, but most users do not follow the directions is why they see very little results. If you are the proud owner of a swimming pool you must have some patience, if not do not own a swimming pool. Regardless what you've read this is Calcium Hypochlorite, not Tri-Chlorite. It will not raise the CYA in the water but will slightly raise the Calcium level. This is how to apply this product for best results - Do not assume adding more is better it's not, it's unsafe and stupid thinking... Add this Pool Care Shock first sprinkling around the pool's edge Wait 12 to 18 hours then come back with 10 to 12% liquid Chlorine or Bleach, being careful pouring around edges of pool. The shock will kill the contaminants that is causing the cloudy - greenish water, the chlorine is an ongoing maintenance that keeps the contaminants from returning. However beware Pool Shock will raise chlorine levels super high, Do Not Swim In A Previous Shocked Pool fore at least 24 hours after application of Chlorine with pumps operational. Want to rid algae growth then cut off its food supply which is Phosphate. Phosphate comes from rain, pesticides, lawn care, flower growth run off water. Buy Phosphate Free, pour into skimmer as directed, let pump operate for minimum 4 hours then test for Phosphate. When Phosphate is Zero PPM (Parts Per Million) Algae growth will detach and settle to bottom of pool, looks like sand. Waste Vacuum out of pool then you'll not have algae problems, at close of swim season pour in double dose of Phosphate Free in skimmer run pump over night then close for winter, next year likely less preparation problems.
