The radio is what I ordered unfortunately I don’t get reception where I live so I cannot say how it works. The lights work and it’s compact in size. I’ll take it with me the next time I go to a city and try it out there.

I would really like to give this radio 5 stars but just can't. On the plus side it is a well designed and made unit, nothing flimsy or cheap about it. Definitely quality. All the functions work well and as a camping tent radio it will be a great addition to my tent. The issue I have with it is it's poor performance on receiving AM radio stations. I compared it to a Panasonic RF-2400D (a current model) which I have that performs well on AM. I live in central Connecticut and the big 50,000 Watt New York City AM stations come booming in on the Panasonic but are not received at all on this emergency/weather radio. To be fair, the Panasonic is strictly an AM/FM portable without any of the special features of the emergency radio but if AM is important to you consider the Panasonic, a solid performer. This emergency radio worked very well on FM and the weather channels. I did not try the short wave features at all. Poor AM performance is not unusual for radios these days and if it's not important to you, then you will really like this little radio.

This is a well made radio and should deserve 5 stars for all of its great features. However, I have 3 issues with this radio: 1. AM reception is less than great, especially with stations that don't broadcast using a lot of power. Moreover, the volume level, while adequate, needs to be adjusted when changing stations. There is no automatic gain control, so weaker stations need a volume boost after listening to a stronger station. 2. This is a NOA radio, but alerts can only be received when the radio is in standby mode or when the Alert function is enabled. However, while listening to the radio on any band, except for the weather band, the radio will not be able to monitor and issue weather alerts when they occur. I experienced this when listening to an AM station on the CR1009 Ultra when a weather alert with alarm set off a Midland E310 radio, but failed to interrupt listening and set off the siren on the CR1009 Ultra. The seller confirmed this limitation, which was not obvious in the instructions. To be fair, it is obvious when you set the radio to Alert and see the Alert symbol on the LCD display, only to have the symbol disappear after switching from standby, to a broadcast band. Moreover, the Alert must be enabled again when returning to standby. In comparison, some NOA radios, like the Midland ER310, CAN alarm while you are listening. Having said all this, I like that the CR1009 Ulta can operate directly from its AC adapter, while monitoring for alerts in standby mode. This means I never have to remember to recharge the battery. Otherwise, the internal lithium battery would be depleted in about 130 hours, according to the instruction manual. (BTW, the Midland, can not be left plugged in after charging it. That radio doesn't allow for monitoring or listening while plugged in.) 3. The 12000 ma internal battery is not user replacable. The seller offers at least a 1 year warranty, but I would doubt they will be able to service or replace old batteries after that. Nevertheless, because the radio will still operate with the AC adapter or alkaline batteries, it shouldn't become totally useless. (Though the radio offers solar and crank options, I doubt, because of their inefficiency, you want to use them. Furthermore, they need a healthy lithium battery to charge, so they probably won't work, at all.). Even though I gave this radio 4 out of 5 stars, I can highly recommend it because of all of its features, in spite of a few limitations. Furthermore, the large capacity, built in lithium battery, while not replaceable, offers the distinct advantage of using the radios lithium battery as a powerbank to charge your phone during in a power outage. On a very positive note, the constomer support by this seller is fantastic. While the CR1009 is sold by several other sellers, it's hard to imagine they could give the excellent support I have already received, while trying to fully understand this radios capabilities. His responses have been prompt, thorough, and very clear. FOLLOW-UP EDIT: I have found that although the radio accepts AAA batteries, as a backup, these batteries will begin to discharge while the lithium battery is being used. This means that by the time the lithium battery is depleted, so will be the alkalines. The solution for this problem, if you wish to use alkalines, is not to install the them until you actually need them, when the lithium battey is depleted. Later, when you begin recharging the lithium cells, be sure to remove the alkalines. Otherwise, any remaining life in them will be wasted. Unfortunately, the instructions, should have stated this, instead of saying the radio can automatically switch over to the alkalines when the lithium battery is depleted. It can't. (I have confirmed this with two of these radios.) Given that there is a work around this problem and you can still use alkalines when the lithium battery is depleted, I did not subtract another star. For its reasonable price, it's still a great radio, albeit not perfect.

This Eoxsmile Emergency Radio is exactly what I wanted. It came fully charged and was ready to test after I read the instruction. Ordered it on Friday and Amazon delivered it Saturday evening. Living on the West Coast, I'm now prepared for "the Big One".

Haven’t had to use it but it seems pretty much as described. Nice and small, doesn’t take up a lot of room, easy to use as a flashlight because of size.
