The blade was coated with probably the same material that I remember cleaning off my rifle. It is a beautiful ornamental sword and well worth the $$$.

As a collector of ceremonial swords, this officer sword turned out to be the perfect gift for a friend's 50th birthday. The 41" Stainless Steel Sword was a surprisingly heavy weight and came with a metal scabbard to protect the blade. The decorative handle and inscriptions made an impressive display in his office/study. I was very pleased with the quality and authenticity of this sword.

SCZO made a beauty with this reproduction sword. Arrived in perfect condition. Slight tug to draw from scabbard and makes the nice swoosh sound. The scabbard has brass hangers and ferrule for nice detail. Came unsharpened which I prefer for display use only. Handguard is detailed on the backside as well as front. Nice etching on blade, well done. Very pleased with this purchase.

-The weight is unbalanced, it looked like from the images that the fuller was deeper which should have made the weight more balanced in the handle but it is barely there in the actual product -There was a large dent on both sides of scabbard as well as a gash shown in the first pic -The country of origin is larger in the actual product than shown in the pictures but that's just a preference choice -I do wish that the designs both started at the same distance from the handle but the side with INDIA on it starts higher off which means both sides aren't parallel -The side which doesn't show INDIA has very light designs as if it wasn't fully pressed in and looks like a bad fake tattoo For the price point it is cool enough but not great

This is the real deal. All steel. Love it.
