Good Headlamp
The different colors and modes are easy to cycle through and the headlamp works well. Comes in camo which might be important to some hunters. Ability to use a redfilter in low light situations where you dont want to rely on a headlamp is nice and works. DOWNSIDE - this headlamp is not as bright as many others. If it was 2x brighter Id give it 6 stars. But it is not, so it gets 4 just because I have friends using cheaper lamps that are brighter. Ive changed batteries a few times but have never had it actually die while in the field.

Great brightness but wouldn’t trust in wet weather
Bought for land nav, red is very bright but very focused (not wide spread). My main point of contention is that there is no o-ring on the battery compartment to seal out water. Would not trust in long term rain use.

Comfortable and user friendly
I use this for work, and hobbies. Great for hands free light in the dark and the ability to change the intensity of the red and white light makes it very versatile. The red light (night vision) helps without disturbing people sleeping when moving around a squad bay, but let's you see clearly.

A TRUE military hike/trail featured headlamp
Like all the positive reviews have said, this headlamp is ideal for night hikes or military use when you do not want, in any way or form, to give away your position or blind yourself in the night time. The headlamp always defaults to RED in on/off use, you have to manually hold down, and switch it to WHITE. The use duration is simply amazing, it goes and goes for those long hour hikes. Red lasting longer, of course. But it's plastic, not very rugged and not made for some hard core action. Not that I broke mine, but the 'feel' of it is that of, be careful with it. You would be hard pressed to find any other head lamp that has a long use duration, is bright, defaults to red, and lightweight. It's an ideal lamp for general use, hikes and military night hikes.

Princeton Tec Remix vs Streamlight Trident HP 61081
Ok, I bought both these headlamps through Amazon so, service and delivery were equally satisfactory.I wanted to buy one of each so my kids would have one and I would have one when we're out hunting. ...so far, they've been used to search the cellar for hunting gear and locate frogs. From the little bit that _I_ have been able to use them, I'll post my thoughts and you will have to make the decision on what qualities are most important to you. For, they are both great headlamps. To establish what I'm comparing:Princeton Tec Remix - single Maxbright LED (white) and 3 Ultrabright LEDs (green) - rated at Power: 70 LumensStreamlight 61081 Trident HP Headlamp with 1-White and 3-Green LEDS - LED rating: 2000 candela peak beam intensity; 50-LumenBrightness: Ok, this is probably the most cut and dry topic. I'm not up on the technical talk of comparing lumes or whatever..I just wanted to know how bright these were. Streamlight is, by far, the winner in this category. Even on its low subdued (green) setting, it was brighter than the Remix on High. If lower power is necessary for you, this would be a negative against the Trident. For me, I wanted some power. For perspective, I could spotlight (white) a tree 150yds out with the Trident whereas the Remix died out between 60-75yds. Perhaps that's what the "peak beam" means....anyhow, Streamlight is much brighter.Size: Remix 2.92 ounces vs. Trident 8 ounces. Ok, so this is the most cut and dry. However, I won't say that the Trident felt heavy or awkward. If you're running, you'll probably want the Remix. Walking to a treestand or bloodtrailing....who really cares? It wasn't a factor for me.Comfort: Again, here I was surprisingly pleased with the Trident. The Remix is the most comfortable, but at less than half the weight, it's a given. The Trident has a nice padded backing on it to make it very comfortable for its size. I haven't tried the alternate strap that comes with it (similar to the one the Remix comes with). You'll have a reverse Mohawk, but if I've been hunting, I don't care what people think afterwards. To prevent talking exclusively about the Trident, I'll say that the Remix is one that you could forget about having on your head....it's that comfortable.Stealth: I know it sounds like I'm handing everything to Streamlight on this review, but this may be the game changer. When adjusting the light head, the Trident has the WORST clicking noise I've ever heard on a headlamp. Yes, it will adjust the beam, but unless you're already busted or noise discipline is not an issue, adjust this to the position you'll want it and LEAVE IT ALONE!!! I'm yet to find any way to quietly adjust the head. The Remix...short and sweet, it's silent and prety solid in the adjustments. That's to say that when you silently adjust, it locks into positions so you won't be bouncing around.Ease of use: The Remix has a hold process where you turn on and hold the button to activate the high beam. Probably pretty simple, but if it's already on (low) and you want to go to high, you have to turn Off, then on (and hold) to get high beam. Mildly inconvenient but efficient. Trident is straightforward. Low subdued, High subdued, crazy bright white. You have to cycle through, but how hard is it to cover the light with your hand to turn it off?Misc: On a final parting note, be mindful of where you store these headlamps in your hunting pack. It may be obvious already, but these are easy to accidentally turn on. The Remix is proably less prone to this than the Trident, but it's just something you want to watch out for.Hope this helps in making a decision. I'll just say that I'm very pleased with both lights and glad that I have them both for the purposes they'll serve. These are both very high quality lights.

Incredible until you experience heavy rain
First off would like to preface this with I’m in the military and bought this for a school from the great experience I’ve had with this exact headlamp before. This headlamp is the best I’ve seen when it comes to the light brightness especially for the 2x red light settings (hence why I’ve bought 3 of them over my 5 years in the military. It’s great until you experience heavy rain, and I mean flash flood rain. Within 3 hours of the storm the headlamp started flickering and then wouldn’t turn on. Clear evidence of water inside the headlamp. If you’re in a situation where you don’t need a super reliable headlamp, this is for you. But if you were like me, not in a position to quickly get another, you are screwed and wish you would have gotten a more reliable brand like Black Diamond.

Low red setting ideal for astronomy.
Good lights. Defaults to low red setting first which is ideal for astronomy. Pity it doesn't tilt. White beam is strong and good for walking dogs in the dark.

This is my favourite night touch I have
This is my favourite night touch I have. So handy that the red comes on first without a blinding white light. A great purchase for sure.
