The capsules are fairly small and are very easy to swallow. I did not detect any taste to them. The recommended daily dose is 3 capsules taken before sleeping. I have not had any negative side effects from taking them.

I got this product because my sun-sensitive skin has benefited greatly from astaxanthin. This product requires a three tablet dose to get the recommended 12 mg of astaxanthin. It contains other ingredients that have been found beneficial for the skin such as collagen, l-glutathione and Vitamin E. I was also intrigued to try capsules that you take at night that might help with sleep. The “sleep” ingredient is GABA. The 100 mg dose is a fairly low but I think I have slept a little better when I take this. This supplement bottle doesn’t have the GMP seal or say third party testing on the bottle but when I went to the Youthvita website I found that the company consists of health professionals, including nutritionists, and researchers. Also their website indicates that their company possesses a quality management system and adheres to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP). They indicate that the facilities used for the production and packaging of their dietary supplements are registered with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA). This supplement may not be for everyone (check with your health care provider) but I feel good about it’s quality after really their website.
