Doing at-home IPL without quality safety glasses is a recipe for disaster when it comes to your eyes' health, and these safety glasses will filter out almost all of the harmfully bright wide-spectrum light from an IPL device. It's difficult to balance OD rating with the ability to see, and LaserPair seems to have erred on the side of caution, as these glasses do filter out enough light to make it a bit difficult to see fine details, but you can still see things through them, and they do an excellent job of protecting your eyes.
