Medieval Knight Arming Sword with Scabbard

It looks way better irl than the pictures. It's a great weight and durability. Blade is dull but what's stopping ypu from buying a blade sharpener? If ur looking for a midevil sword for your man, THIS IS THE SWORD! Trust me, he will love it!!

I've written several product reviews on Amazon, but this is the first one where I'm stoked enough to opine immediately after receiving a purchase. I was looking for a sword to go with a Knight costume for Halloween that wasn't just a $2 plastic kid's toy. I figure if I'm going to the effort I'm at least going to look like I tried. I didn't want to spend big money, but a steel sword with a scabbard that didn't look like it came from Wally World should be doable. Well it is doable, and this sword is it. I don't know much sword terminology, so don't have a heart attack when I say the "grip" seems well made, and the sideways "bars" between the grip and the edged blade are solidly attached. All the steel is brushed and blemish-free. The ring at the end of the grip is thick metal and still a perfect circle after shipping. The blade is covered in a thin film of oil and is straight as an arrow. The scabbard is leather or fake leather and looks great with the Knight costume. I had a leather belt and sword frog from last year's pirate costume (both bought on Amazon), and this sword matches both perfectly. If you're looking for a costume sword that's a serious level up from plastic junk and still not expensive, look no further. This is one of my best scores for Halloween costume swag yet.Edited to add: Looks like the Amazon review screeners liked what I had to say. When I wrote the review yesterday the sword was still $41 (what I paid for it) on Amazon Prime. This morning it's $61 on Amazon Prime. Sorry about about that, folks! LOL (the sword is still worth it if you're serious about your Halloween getup)

I thought this was a pretty good sword for the price, but there are just a couple of things that might turn away a buyer.Pros:- It is carbon steel indeed. Because of this, the blade can be used as a semi-functional weapon, but I'll get into that later.- It disassembles like a dream. If you want to practice sword care, this is the sword to buy. It shows you how all of the different parts fit together the same way you will find in higher quality weapons.- It is very nice to look at. Great decoration or dress sword- Isn't too cumbersome to wield and swing around. The fittings are super tight and can always be adjusted by tightening the pommel nut.Cons:- The sword does have a full tang, I'll give it that; however, not only is it a rat tail tang, but the blade is still welded to the rat tail pretty sloppily. Any heavy use of the sword may cause it to snap, but so far it is surprisingly sturdy.- It is not sharp at all. I did not find this much of a problem because I can put a descent edge on anything, but for any new buyers who cannot, I would not expect to use this as a functional weapon.- The handle leather and the scabbard leather are completely different. It is more of an aesthetic thing, but it is worth mentioning.- It has no distal taper, but the sword is so small, it is almost not noticeable.As a final evaluation, it is a perfect beginner sword. Disassembles easily and accurately, doesn't come with and edge, and feels like a sword. If you have a new interest in HEMA or WMA or your relative does, this would be absolutely perfect. It does, however, under perform compared to its cheap oriental weapon counterparts on Amazon.

I build and collect swords and I know battle ready swords to wall hangers and good quality to bad quality.I got this sword so that I would have an Irish sword in my collection. It's pretty nice.This sword is very good looking. The guard is solid steel and very strong, with a burnished finish and what looks to be solid brass rings accenting the guard. The handle is solid wood, wrapped in imitation leather and sewed (sew line sticks out a lot and is crooked, making it weird to hold.) The ring pommel is a thick, sturdy burnished steel and the hex nut on top isn't bad. For anyone who wants to complain about the hex nut, for one, it is supposed to be there, and two, this sword is not meant to be wielded with two hands. It is a single handed sword and definitely not a bastard.The blade is sturdy feeling but light. Though it looks beautiful, it is just a little bit dainty, however it is strong enough to swing around and maybe go Zelda style and slash some plants. Unfortunately, the tang isn't quite as good as it could be. It is slightly twisted and is about 1/4" (3/4 cm) wide. It is just a little flexible in the hand. This sword is most definitely not fully battle ready but I would say not super weak either, definitely can do some damage. The blade also seems to be high carbon steel, because it is flexible and it rusted pretty easily hanging on my wall. But overall, the pressure of holding the sword is distributed well along the handle and it is a lightweight blade, so it is sturdy to hold.The scabbard is surprisingly good. It is solid wood, wrapped with nice imitation leather, sewed very well on the side, and the throat and chape are beautifully crafted burnished steel.Overall, it is a perfect sword for display and light use. I like this sword because it is smaller and lighter than the rest of my swords making it very maneuverable. Of course I don't expect it to be battle ready but for the price and my experience I expected it to at least feel formidable enough to swing around and hit light things with, and it is. Though it is a nice sword I don't think it is worth around $60, but if you're looking for a nice Irish sword, this will not disappoint you. If you are on the fence about it, buy it now while it is still around $40, don't wait until it is over $60 again like it was for me. I highly reccommend it.5/22/15 UPDATEThe sword has recently gotten very warped. I decided to try and bend it back (since I'm not worried about damaging it anymore) and the sword bent to the side in an extreme fashion. I was able to bend the sword twice and make it look like a snake. I would overall not recommend this sword any longer, depending on what your intended use for it is. However if you want a decent display sword that is easy to handle, it is still an ok choice.

I love using weapons as display pieces in my home. I was hoping that for 50 dollars I could get a full-sized sword and this did not disappoint! It's even got a decent weight. Quite obviously a display sword.
