Auto Companion 2 Cycle Carrier 2 Bike Rear Platform Towball Mount

The bike carrier is let down by the locks which just do not work at all. Luckily I have a spare set of Thule locks which fit and work as they should.

Cannot make this clamp down on a 50mm ball ????? Help .

We’ve had ours for getting for 3 years now. Been long distances with a Claude butler and a heavy old E bike on board. The instructions are crap but if you’re not a thicko it’s really easy to know where everything fits. Locks are crap as reported but we always envelop our bikes in long tensile steel bike cable type tethers making sure they wrap around the strong frame that fastens to the car tow ball otherwise if you don’t you fall into the old thicko category as above. Really good value and real easy to get on an off at the end of your journey to the holiday cottage. Thoroughly recommend.

This is a nightmare product! Instructions are terrible. Then when trying to attach to 50mm towball (witter towball so completely standard) it didn’t fit. Thought it was me so took it to a local engineering firm and they couldn’t attach it either. It was too tight to get around the neck of the towbar. They’ve had to grind out some of that area so it attaches now. Which in itself was a problem as they had to make sure it wasn’t ground too much or it wouldn’t attach securely any more either. So ultimately it shows what a poor product this is. Seems like some people have been lucky but I wouldn’t recommend chancing it. My daughter and I struggled to put this together (strength wise and poor instructions), like REALLY struggled. And we are well used to flat pack stuff, building wardrobes, even concreting driveways etc. And the video on the amazon page bears absolutely no resemblance to the actual instructions for attaching it to car! Not that it did attach to car!I would have returned it but needed it for a trip we were making that week. DO NOT BUY THIS! And as someone else commented, the locks to keep the bikes secure are flawed as it’s easy to take off the whole unit they are locked to.

Only used this a couple of times and one of the wheel clamp shoes broke in transit, I almost lost my bike off the back of the car.

Buyers please take care. While it’s advertised with locking system. Clever thieves simply unscrew the two plastic vertical bar clamping mechanism thereby negating the security aspect that this system was sold with.I Locked my bike to this carrier added two more locks for extra wheel security and thieves simply lifted the entire upright frame off the central mechanism and carried off my bike.
