Believe it or not; I only have a one-word description for these tempting cookie/brownies; CONFUSING. Yes, that's what I said. These cookies seemingly have it all going for them in the chocolate cookie industry. Chips Ahoy will never replace my Mom's straight out of the oven but; as store-boughts go, they are a reliable rescue in a Cat 5 chocolate emergency. Therefore; when I first saw these advertised, my immediate reaction was kind of like approaching nirvana. They appeared to have chunks of chocolate nuggets throughout, rather than just a few sprinkled in here and there. Therefore; I believe thay will be impossible to resist among others with a similar affliction for chocolate. Yes; these sound and look absolutely delicious...and they are. Still confused? Me too. The thing about food; and specifically, the kind of food you know so well from a lifetime of many, cocoa-laced experiences, that sometimes, we just cannot resist the call. In fact; the mere mention of chocolate chip cookies has sparked many an undergraduate midnight chocolate run to 7-11. In fact; legend has it that it was this very phenomenon that led the infamous convenience store to ignore it's own namesake hours (7-11) and NEVER CLOSE, in order to provide the one and only possible fix for similarly addicted students and then, even more intensified by 7-11's brilliant, non-chocolate pairings with the 64OZ Big Gulp and of course, to the best thing that ever happened to sugar, crushed ice and food coloring, the SLURPEE. Wow... sorry for going off the rails there, I promise I don't work for 7-11... Anyway; back to the confusion about Chips Ahoy 's new Big Chewy Chip's Ahoy. The taste is there and they are bigger and thicker than a mere cookie. They are an obvious cross with another beloved chocolate item, the brownie. So what's wrong, you ask? Nothing EXCEPT; and this is difficult to comprehend, they are actually too soft. So soft; that I have yet been able to even remove them from the wrapper without almost totally crumbling them. Every bite and method of holding them seems to fail. Not a clear break in half or any controllable size, they all seem to crumble. Adding to that is the 'tease' because; although they are truly quite tasty, it is also almost impossible to find a way into your mouth without more and more crumbling. I apologize as I have no scientific suggestion and I wouldn't want to mess with their existing great taste, so all I can recommend for now, is a plate and a spoon. Hopefully, Nabisco can once-again work their decades long chocolate chip magic and get a perfect 5 from me!!

Brownies are supposed to be moist. Yes these are soft but they are extremely dry.

This is a great cookie. Soft and tasty. Highly recommend

It says on the package that the cookies are artificially flavored, and that sure comes through, with a bitter aftertaste and a flavor that is not chocolate. The cookies seem moist when you take them out of the package, but once you eat it, it dries up in your mouth like quick setting cement, so make sure to have liquid handy so you don't choke to death on these unsuitable cookies. Definitely not recommended.
